You could go with any B serie engine but if you have an 4th gen civic or crx, don't forget to change the tranny for a cable (ACURA 90-93)

if you want to be able race your car seriously then the bigger the better. But if you just want a fun daily driver then things are different. I did a d15 vtec swap in my crx w/ a HF tranny, and first, second, and third gear are a blast, i havn't had much trouble getting up to 120 mph and when you wind out second gear your running around 90mph so it dosn't take that long to get there, but fouth and fith gear are great too, on the pocket book, i can be running 80-85mph and be turning a little under 2000 rpm, so needless to say the gas milage is still there, and plus as a daily driver on the street it can get going as fast as i want it too, but if i was building a race car, i'd definatly go with the bigger motor, if your looking for an easy swap go for the d15 vtec. as long as you get the obd jumper harness then it's a pretty straight foward swap with not too much wiring. Good luck w/ what ever you decide and bring the rest of the boys home safe from over there man!!! Thanks for what ya do Scott

can you give us a little better idea of what you want out of the motor? What type of driving do you plan to do with the car? Stricly daily driving? Strictly Drag? Stricly Autox/Roadracing? Or a combo? Knowing that we can help ya find the engine that will best suit your needs.

Holla back! :smooch:

First gen b16a has a cable tranny! Try hmotorsonline.com ! Steve is the MAN!!!! He can also get the hasport mounts and shiftlinkage and make it a package deal. If i remember Its like $1299.99 for the motor or 1250. Not sure, but get everything at once and you will get a deal!

Ok, i guess i shoulda said what i was gonna do with the hatchie eh? it will get daily driven for the most part but its gonna get some mild body mods and be shown as well, also i'd like to put up some decent numbers at the track, i kinda would like to do something that not a whole lot of ppl do kiinda like what Scott82 did would be cool or a turbo ls maybe everyone around where i live(Glen Burnie,MD) has a B18C1, B16a, or a turbo version of one of the 2

I say go buy a complete B16a1 Swap, then at the same time Buy a B20b/z block only.

then pickup some GSR head studs, a Golden Eagle B20vtec Kit and a nice set of Valve springs & cams (stage 1 or CTR/ITR), build everything and go own the streets.

A) There are just as much aftermarket parts for D series as B.
B) Better looking? WTF
c) Horsepower isn't everything

I was really suprised as to what i am getting out of this d series motor, i didn't expect it to be too fast, but it really suprised me and the little crx can scoot on down the road now. I know it's not as fast as a b series swap but it is a big difference than the stock motor. Does anyone know how much more a b series enginge weighs and how much a d series weighs. just curious, i wouldn't expect it to be more than a couple hundred lbs if that. Just curious

Thanx for all the input guys/gals, but i am only looking to spend about 1500 at most if possible to do the swap, i'm really starting to lean towards the ZC motor/ECU/Trans and get hasport to make the harness to drop it all in easily, then i have a lil more power, decent gas mileage and i can still say i have a swap, keep in mind i am going from dual port to multi port here so that itself is a pain in the ass

A)No......atleast not internals
B)You don't think a b-series valve cover looks cleaner than a d-series? ok......
C)It's not everything, but most of it.

a) You should do your research before you spread wrong information. There are just as much.
b) Your a freaking idiot if you pick a engine because the valve cover looks cleaner.
c) No it's not most of it. How about torque? Parts availability? Parts cost? Reliability? Personal goals? Etc..Etc...

You should really think before you speak something you know nothing about.

I'm acting childish...how do you figure? As I recall you were the one who said..

"Mommy, mommy...buy be the B one, I like the thing on top, it's all big and way cool looking."

You guys its all about personal likes or dislikes of the motor you can make a D get some serious HP just as you can get a B to do the same. I like the fact I can make a underated pretty much throw away motor turn out more HP than some of the B's running around. So what ever you guys dont fight. And people wonder why I stopped answering questions and helping. Go figure..
