brake noise

My girlfriend has an 01 Corolla and she has an intermitten clicking noise coming from the rear wheels. It is a rotational noise (slows as car slows), and only happends when brakes are applied. I know it's rear brakes because it also does it when I apply parking brake to stop car. I've tried changing the drums, and nothing happened. The noise comes and goes, but last several weeks at a time, than suddenly it will be gone. She had her mechanic look at it, they did the front brakes and that did nothing. Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

My mom's toyota corrola does that too. It also gives a loud clunck in reverse sometimes, And they could never figure out why either. My guess would be rear brakes as well. Maybe the adjusters. I don't think it's anything to be concearned about. My wifes' Prizm doesn't click yet.
So if ya find out, let me know

Vince,
Did you ever find a solution? I have the same issue and replaced the rear drums and shoes on a 2000 corolla (with a new hardware kit). One suggestion I've heard is to replace the return spring (big top spring around adjuster), but that spring wasn't included in the hardware kit.
Regards,
Tom
