My car emits a sound (not loud) like (chick chick chick ..) under the hood. The sound comes out after it warm up and continues while idling. It goes away only after driving for > 3 km and will not come back even when parking. Any one experienced this; I’m looking for some feedback before it goes to dealer on Sunday.

I noticed the same thing when its cold or damp out. To me it sounded like a midget tapping things with a hammer. I just opened the hood took the hammer away and told him to stop it! I am sure they have heard about it before. I forgot what they told me the answer is, something along the lines of a valve tap or the cam shaft lifting the rocker arms. Anyone else have a better answer?

My 03 does the same thing. I do not think it is internal. Thought it might be the fan clutch but it seems to be working fine. Anyone know what this might be?

I'm living on Bahrain so the cold and damp out do not apply at all. I noticed also that the sound is so clear when taking a look under the car on the hood area.

Bahrain?! Awesome! Yeah, I guess the persian gulf does not qualify for cold and damp weather!

Pretty sure it is your fan clutch. Mine was doing that & after they replaced it, the noise went away.
Chicks under your hood eh?! Shouldn't they be "ON" the hood :iceslolan

Ok, what is the fan clutch. My TB has a slight ticking noise and when it is warmed up its gone.
I told my wife I need mud flaps to get rid of the noise, got the mud flaps and still have a slight ticking noise. I told her maybe it needs a good wash, pre-wax and wax , did that all day today and still have the ticking noise. Do you think that a bush gaurd and trailer hitch step would get rid of this noise? I have a few more ideas that might get rid of the noise but they are more interior related.

fan clutch replaced under the warranty, but still no luck.
I'm suspecting now the fan bearings being loose.

I had a more pronounced ticking noise today in my TB. The RPM was fine and the TB still moved without hesitation. The noise went away after a few km's.

I'm putting the fan bearings theory on suspend since the ticking noise is coming from some where under the center console.

I had the same noise, I have had to replace the fan clutch once under warranty and once when it went out (it took the water pump with it this time). It has been in operation around 8 months so far, the last one lasted around 9 months. I just installed a K&N 77 filter kit on my 4.2. First trip out, I noticed that the instant fuel economy stayed at 0. Gonna call K&N to see if it is normal.
