92 V6 Dakota Maintenance Headaches

Hi Folks,

I'm performing some overdue maintenance on my truck and could use some help on two items.

1) The Haynes manual describes how to relieve the fuel pressure in the lines so I can change the fuel filter. Good grief is it convoluted! Can someone describe the proper procedure in English? Is there an easier way of doing it? Like just easing off one of the fuel lines going into the filter after opening the fuel filler cap?

2) Trying to change the oxygen sensor and what a bear! I've soaked is in WD40 overnight, on a slightly warm engine and the thing won't budge. I can see I'm about to round off the corners! Any suggestions?

Thanks much,
ET

It's been my experience the the manuals know what thier talking about so I'd do it that way. As for the O2 sensor wd-40 is good but penetrating oil is better go down to the autoparts store and get some then just follow the directions but wait till the car cools off otherwise too hot.

I had to use a breaker bar on my 91 oxygen sensor.

I just pulled the fuel pump relay/fuse, started the truck, let it idle until it died on its own, then tried to start 2x times...once it wont start fuel line should be de-pressurized

That liquid wrench on a warm 02 sensor, (not hot) then let cool off..the heat helps suck it down into the threads
