radio problems

i am installing Blaupunkt cd player, because the factory cd keeps showing"E20" message and will not play cd's.
put in new head unit... power comes on...but there is no output/sound through speakers.
used wiring harness...still nothing...
is there an internal amp in this car... or do i need to wire the head unit directly to speakers..ala old fashinoed way???

what year is your sunfire? i know some of the newer sunfires had a factory amp (i believe under the driver seat) also, i know the bran new sunfires need to have a special wireing harness because the headlights and a bunch of other crap goes runs through the radio.
