looks nice, but it depends on what shot you are going for. i would try getting closer, possibly macro... and a darker background..
but that's just me.

The problem is, that the flower is about 4 feet above my head, so I can't get real close. Also, it blows around a bit, and even if I had a tripod I likely couldn't use it for that - so it's hard enough just getting a clean shot :(

yep, i agree. there's an old photography adage that says if your photos lack impact, you aren't close enough. it's a good place to start. :)

that's why a lot of people who take this kind of pic often carry a long garden cane and some clothes pegs. stick the cane in the ground and peg the plant to it. easy. :D
