im posting this on the main page, becuase i have to have a decision made within 3 days and need quick advice. im a highschool senior going into college, so as you can imagine, im alittle strapped for cash. my eclipse broke down yesterday and when the shop tore it apart today, i found out that i need a new transmission casing, several new gears, a whole new clutch, and a new driver side axle shaft. the car has been running great since i got it and my only problem so far has been a small oil leak. the car doesnt move anymore and my parents have told me i need to decide what i want to do with it in the next 3 days. i love my eclipse and i dont wnat to get rid of it, but i want to make a smart decision at the same time... the car would cost somewhere around 2500 to fix (by my figureing) and i still owe 1300 on the car. any suggestions? fix it? sell it? part it out? someone please help.:shakehead

Well, in my opinion, it is only an RS so you may want to look at selling it for what it is worth or whatever and upgrading to a turbo model, if you are interested in that.
However, if you dont care about that and you just want the car then I would try and do what you can to repair it, maybe shop around a bit to find some better deals or something.
Not too sure what other options you have other than sell it or fix it, so it depends on what you want to do in the future i suppose.

Get rid of the Sunfire and fix the Eclipse. Problem solved.

i wish it were that easy... the problem is, i sold my sunfire to my parents when i got my eclipse because they were planning on giving the sunfire to my sister. so, if i want the sunfire, i have to buy it from them and theres no way they will let me sell it. (i tried) good thought though

you'll hardly get anything if you part it out or sell it the way it is. the best bet is to get used parts and fix it, then sell it and get a turbo model.
