Cavalier Vs. Honda

Okay. I currently have a 94cavalier 2.2l its in good running conditition, a few problems, but only has 40k miles on it.

now. i got offered a 98( i believe) Honda Accord, it looks nicer then my cav, but it has 100k miles, from what i understand it is in also good running condition.

i cant afford to insure both of them, which one would you choose to have?

accord. newer, has newer tech in it, plus despite the mileage, the interior is bound to be better, plus you probly still have corrosion warrantee on the honda.

also has a much higher resell value

Reasonably, the Honda. But I would personally go with the Cavy because, well, I dont like Hondas:biggrin:

i think he said the honda is the year before they put in that vtech engine...

I would keep the Cavy. It's not that I don't LIKE Hondas, I do, but everybody and their mom has a Honda. The Honda has an ass load of aftermarket stuff available compared to our 90-94 2.2, unfortunatly. :swear:

But resale value, as mentioned above, is the main reason I would get the Honda. However parts are cheaper for the cavy. It's a toss up for me...

oh, and the Accord is tits compared to the Civic and Prelude, even though I think some years the Prelude looked sweet, but anyway, the Accord has better praise than the Civic and Prelude.

My :2cents:

the only thing i really dont like about my cav is the exterior color, that ugly neon blue they made most of the cavs that year lol. this accord is like a tan type color, it looks nice

plus 100,000 miles is nothing on a honda. many of them go way past 200,000 with no problems. defintely made to last. But if you want to be origianl stay with the cav. Not as many out there.

well i mean. imo 40k miles on a 11 year old cavi... probably equates to 100k on a accord.

go with cav. the resale value will be about the same. u have low miles on that car. plus hondas are like bellybuttons....everybody has em and theres no use for em! be original stick with the cavi.

keep both...and just insure one and keep the other in the garage? switch back and forth between the 2..figure out which one u like better and sell the other?

Take the honda and sell it off for a higher price.. problem solved.

... Then you have some money for painting and modding the cavi!

You could easily talk him down and get more for the Honda!

lol its my brother that would sell it to me... it would be kind of awkward to buy it from him and sell it... he would be kind of pissed...

well being as i am broke, i think im going to just go for longevity of the car, imo the honda will last longer then the cavi, so i think im going to have to go that route unless someone can tell me otherwise.

Ooh! What did I win! LOL!

I would rather have the Honda myself just for the availability of aftermarket parts not to mention reliability, even though the Cavi is very reliable. But since I already have a Cavy and I don't have the money to but aftermarket parts anyway, I'm just going to fix it up and fabricate my own parts. You could say it will be one of a kind when I'm done, if I am ever done.

Imagine... A 92 Cavy four-door, super metalic pearl black, wide body kit-100% original, with a 5-speed trany, 2.4 (LD9, twin cams vs. my OHV), and turbo at about 17psi boost!

Yeah actually most imports from japan are rather nice cars with a reputation for lasting. Its a toss up but I would probably go with the Honda even though everyone has one. I mean, hey, it should last for quite some time. Cavaliers are good cars, but Honda seems to get more praise locally from what I can tell. Eh..

I'd take the honduh, honduhs last forever. Heck really anything from japan last for ever. But I like imports, so the Honduh would be more my cup of tea. Although my hats off to you 94 cav with 40k of it. Impressive by my standards.

i think even though hondas never die going with the cavalier is much better u can stand out at a show or on the street casue if everyone has a honda then that suxs

everyone has a cavalier too, at least where i live: in town with a population of about 30,000, and i can not go ANYWHERE, (and im not even being sarcastic) in this town without seeing at least one j-body

Same here, but how many of those j-bodies had aftermarket work done to them compared to all these honda's with aftermarket...

Everyone has a Honda, everyone has a Cavalier. Some people have modded Hondas, not many people have modded Cavaliers.

And if something breaks on that Honda expect a big repair bill, import car parts usually average to twice the cost of domestic car parts, that's why I'm keeping the Chevy. It sucks that resale-value blows on our domestics, but at least if they break they are cheaper to fix than an import. You win some, you lose some, oh well.

LOL, I wonder if DannMann99 has made his choice by now?

when it comes to resell and cost for parts i like to think of it this way...honda have better resell then cavy's and their parts cost more so the money you spend on parts for the honda you make back with the higher resell...you save on parts for the cavy but the resell kinda sucks but if you look at it mathimatically...you break even with both cars...lower costing parts - lower resell / higher costing parts - higher resell.

anything after that is just what car do you like better and which one is cheaper on insurance.
