Tie rod question

Last week I had a tie rod go on my truck while I was doing 70 down the highway. No need to mention this was not a fun ride. I was lucky that no other damage was done to my truck as a result of this. I heard through the grape vine that ford is having problems with tie rods. If anyone else has had a ploblem or know if this is really an issue with ford adn if so are they doing anything about it. Thanks for any input
