OK guy I have been building my RS to be a RST with a urethane blitz body kit (ordered yesterday :) ) new brakes, strut bars, coil overs, spoiler, gauges, seats, exhaust, wheels, hood, and a paint job in 2 days. I finally decided to get the Stage 2 Star Kit. The car will probably be done in 3 months.
WOW while I was just typing this thread 10 minutes ago my neighbor knocked on my door. Some black guy was just inside my car and apperantly just emptied my wallet. There are 2 cops outside minutes ago asking me questions. Apperently this guy has been inside a couple of houses 2 days ago. Wow This has been exciting 15 minutes atleast i finished the thread. i never been robbed before, wow I cant belive I got robbed. Luckily he took only $160 bucks. I was gonna buy speakers from Best buy tomorrow with em. Man I hope this never happens to any of you guyz. Wish me luck and I hope they cathc this bastard, I WANT my MONEY BACK !!!!

damn man that sucks...i know how ya feel though. i had a Pioneer DEH P6600 CD player, only 3 months old...well i was at the mall one day a while ago, it was nice out so i left the top down cause i was only going in for 10min....come out and the whole wire harness was spread across the center console, cd player gone...this was during mid-day with a shitload of people around! $250 gone! good luck with that man, hope you get your money back.

It was funny though cause I was just posting this thread when the guy was actually outside stealing shit from my car. He didnt take the CD player however .. Thank god ! It was a brand new Pioneer. Coasted me $350. i was getting new speakers with these money he stole, but things like that happen.

How about investing in an alarm now?

I have an alarm but its one of those when a car passes by sometimes it tirns on. Its kinda very sensetive so I just keep it off. But I am getting a damn pitbull or something and I will tie him to my rim ! Cause after I finish it and upgrade it I just know that some bastard will try to steal my stereo or something else! I will post pictures of it. I am still confused by what color to paint it.

ISP = Internet Service Provider..... You know the people that connect your computer to the internet.

Eclipse4ever, if Jake found that you have 3 usernames from all of them using the same IP address, then you definitely know what we are talking about. Your IP address (internet protocol address) never changes (if you're on broadband, you usually have a static IP...meaning doesn't change, unless your ISP has a certain DHCP lease)...if you're on dialup, the ip changes every time you connect, but even though the IP changes, the string is usually the same. example: connection 1- 205.146.0.4 *disconnect*....reconnect - 205.146.0.203. depending on which octet your subnet is directed to. really it depends on the ISP if the string changes or not. either way the IP can be traced and tell a user what ISP you have, where they're located, etc. don't lie man, just come out with it. why do you have 3 usernames? you ONLY NEED ONE!

if you guys want a good CD deck, i suggest Eclipse, i spent the 550$ on it and am very pleased. not only does it have WAY better sound quality than any of the pioneer/sony/jvc type brands....but if it ever gets stolen. you get it replaced for free. because if its removed from a power source. it loses its encryption key...without ure security cd its useless. the only way to use it again is to call eclipse...and if ure not the owner (which they will know) they give u all kinds of bullshit on the phone while the send the police to your house. wham bam. its anti theft warranty rules...unless they just break it trying to get it out. lol

The new Pioneer ones are so much better. 6.5V preouts, OEL Display, and many more equalizer options. And you can get them on Ebay for a lot less than $350 shipped, and thats like their best model. Beats your $550.

Viper is apparently overrated and overpriced because it's the brand that's automatically associated with alarms. Here's a site that has some info on them and it also has alarms with everything that the best viper has for half the price. They also give you all the info you need to install the alarm yourself on your specific car. A two-way responder, remote start alarm costs like $150. The site is the worst designed site I've ever seen though. I think the main site is Caralamz.com.

No offense but that is SUCH a waste of money. I payed $150 for a pioneer head unit that is amazing. It has all the controls for all variations of sound, an EQ, sub control, etc. My friend got a sony deck for $250 and all it does differently than mine is change colors if you press the color button. Can't argue with that. Plus, you get the awesome display that you can customize to whatever you want. Looks sweet, performs like a beast, and is decent in price. What more could you want?

well i wasnt really refering to retailers that try and rip you off....eclipse is a quality company besides do you see any pioneer racing JGTC cars? i was just trying to mention a good brand and because some twirp cant tell the diffrence when hes listening to his MP3s on his ipod to a good sound system (oh yeah bust out the old word Hi-Fi) isnt my problem. dont wanna hear about some cheap as deck you can buy at any walmart or bestbuy holding its own with much nicer players.

Everyone is bias to certain brands. I just feel that Eclipse head units are highly overpriced for what they offer compared to other companies like Pioneer. The sound quality is much the same, but the functions on the deck that make it sounds more custom to your liking are different. And no, id rather not have dolphins flying up and down my dash either. Thats why they offer a program that you can create whatever 20 sec. video clip or any picture you want as a background on there. Don't flip out cuz i gave an opinion.

i personally like alpine. I had a Kenwood deck and when i switched over to alpine i was amazed at how much better it sounded.

ok i can respect a reply like that, just note that the sound quality is better, pioneer and sony and whatever 150$ brands add all kinds of things to their sound, eclipse is a straight up direct sound,so when the engineer in the big studio spends hours making his mix sound a certain way,you can hear it too. as for overpriced, just wonder why the high end eclipse heads dont have an onboard amp? the more stuff u try and cram in there the more stuff that can break and or make the quality of other things go down, im not trying to bitch pioneer or anything because yeah they sound good for a 150$ i just wouldnt want to pay 500$ for something with more features than a BMW on crack. its all about quality, Mb quart doesnt charge 300-400 for a pair of speakers just because they have a name, nor most of the other quality audio makers. and yes i think alpines sound pretty decent too. colored...but decent. in all honesty the only brands i think sound bad are sony, and thats a wide wide opinion.

i loke my pioneer deck. its the deh-p960, and no its not some 150 buck unit... i think i paid like 250 for it. i'm happy with it, but if i had the money i woulf probably buy something like an eclipse unit. i do have to say that i am impressed by the sound that my 8" inch eclipse subs put out tho. eventually i plan to go all eclipse in my car... components, subs, head unit... but for now i have to go with what i can afford

nice yeah i hhave some eclipse 12's the 8700 series, and when i had an amp(fucking car shop thieves)they were LOUD as hell, if i had the money id get me some of them aluminum or titanium versions and blast them with way to much power. hehehe, rock on

aside from being a music engineer. and know what sounds good. it was just years of hangin around stuff like this. read some system magazines, find a GOOD shop and ask them questions. all in all as much of an ass i was about it...its whatever YOU think sounds good...now if u want a competion system then you can worry about what brands and whatnot.

i think the infinity speakers are nice, they have really good sound. not the subs though...for subs its not so much a quality your looking for in sound just power handling/sound output, ie the more power you can put through it the better it will sound.its just going to pump out a frequency range from 40hz-maybe 250, if that. help?

i'll upgrade to focal some day. the only discrempancy i have with Mb Quart's are the amount of power they use in comparison to other brands.

I know this thread is basically dead but I have to go off on a rant. WTF is the point of car insurance!? Seriously, it's just a scam. You end up paying more than if you didn't have insurance no matter what. So your $800 system gets stolen and your insurance goes up $100 a month. That's great, by this time next year they will have jacked you $400. People should be able to put money in a car insurance bank account or mutual fund that they can use only for insurance. And if you dont need it then you can keep the money.

You know what happened after 9/11 right? Insurance comps. said "Uh, we don't feel like actually paying for this. So fuk off."

insurance is for personal injury protection and property damage. its not really designed for protection for your car, but for people or things your at fault for hitting in your car.

Bah that kind of pissed me off at first but then I read the thread and noticed you calmed down a bit. I personally don't really care enough about this kind of stuff to get very in depth about it. To me it always seemed like "well if I have a console unit that takes a cd and has certain attributes such as an EQ for custom music, basic settings such as bass, treble, f/r speakers, sub control, you know... The basics, then I'm fine, hell I'd be fine if all it did was play a CD and nothing else"

See to me mine sounded just fine out of the box but the added adjustments were just a little plus to me. I didn't graduate from the academy of audio design or what not so to me the extra cash you would spend on what you refer to as a "quality deck" is looked upon as wasted money to me. Its all perspective but no hard feelings.

As for this thread.... Well I'm still waiting on those european prototype DSM pictures EclipseOWN.

Btw - the 3g eclipse I'm drivin around now does have an infinity deck/speaker system and I had 2 10' pioneers put in back with an audiobahn amp and the sound is nice but the infinity deck skips like a bitch compared to my pioneer deck which is going into my boosted car coming mid may (hopefully). If I ever in my life get interested in finding out what OHMS, RMS, MHz or any of the other typical technical sound system terms mean I'll hit you up.

the more power you put into a speaker the less chance it will blow,(to an extent) its mainly because blowing your speaker comes from distortion.which is what happens when u dont have enough power. the waves square off and your speakers not supposed to just hang out there.

whoa whoa whoa....the more power you put into a speaker, the less chance it is to blow???? i suppose thats when you hook up a 800 watt amp to a 500 watt peak sub, it sounds good for like 30 seconds, AND THEN BLOWS. According to you, it should have been less apt to blowing, since you put a lot of power into it. Even if you put 1,000 watts into a 1,200 watt sub, you are more likely to blow it than if you were putting in 600 watts into it. You better clarify your statement. Goes against everything I've ever heard.

well maybe you heard wrong, blowing a speaker happens either when you tear the cone, or blow the inner magnet out of the other,which is what happens when you distort your sound, YES if you put WAY more power than u should through a speaker you can blow it, but its actually better to overpower a speaker than to underpower it. if you want a more detailed explaination im me and ill get out the paint program and draw some diagrams explaining stuff.

he means your more likley do damage a speaker slightly underpowring it then slightly over powering it. its true, if you cant run rms through a speaker or more your better off not using it.
