My '94 has about 135k on the tranny - it seems to shift fine, but I'm worried that now i've done a few mods (Chip, Headers, HiFlow Cat, Flowmaster, K&N FIPK) and I enjoy puttin my foot into it, that it may only have a short life left. I "supposedly" had a filter and flush done at Midas.. but who the hell knows what those guys did, my fluid still smells funky, and if they didn't change the filter after the flush, then it's probably clogged up with &hit. What have people been doing to save these trannys, to get the most life out of them? The truck dosen't have an aux cooler, just the stock built in-radiator one.
Also - The K&N FIPK came with a valve cover breather. I installed it, and someone pointed out that it wasn't good, because it's a closed system? I replaced the hose going from the drivers side valve cover to the air box with a breather. The PCV remains on the other side.
And thoughts/ideas? Thanks!

My truck has a tranny cooler in front of the radiator and it used to pull a gooseneck trailer of some sort before I owned it.(so thats why it had that nice new bedliner in it) Anyway it has 117,000 miles and I'm not worried.

yeah any mods you might have done probly wont be too bad on it. my friend has the original turbo 350 in his 86 silverado and he has a newer beefed up 454 puttin out over 420 horsepower and his tranny is doing just fine... they can take a real beating, as his rear tires are proof
