Shudder at speed

When im cruising at 80km/h (50mph) and I hit a not so flush manhole cover :) , I get front end shudder, feels like the wheel will bounce for a second then it becomes normal. Until the next one. I am thinking it is my suspension. Perhaps I need some new springs and shocks on the front. Any one else have the same problem? Might it be my joints. Its a 1993 Jeep YJ, 4.0 Liter, Inline 6, 5 speed. No modifications yet done to it, such as lift kit. Stock tires on it. Aint towing nothing, I dont even have a hitch........ yet. Any help will be appreciated. In the future I plan to get a lift kit on, and 31's or 33's, lockers, winch. Thanks for your comments, hope you have a great day.

It sounds like the steering stabilizer is weak on your linkage.

The stabilizer is a horizontal shock absorber that helps reduce the side to side effect that happens when you hit a bump like you describe.

If it has never been changed, it might be worth a try. They are not that expensive.

If the steering wobble was worse, (death wobble) then there might be other wear and play that will contribute to the problem too.

I would try a stabilizer first.
