What octane gas does the G20 use? 87 or 91+?

You should only use 87(regular) unless you've advanced your timing to 17 degrees. Then you'll have to use 91-92(premium).

I would not run 87 octane. Not enough to keep things clean. Run 89 octane. Just my opinion.

You should not have any probs' running 89 octane at 17 degrees. Just make sure it is really 17 degrees and not eye-balled. Remember, spec's are 15 degrees +/-2 degrees. So 17 degrees is still within spec's for 89 octane.

from manual....
Unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 87 AKI (RON 91) or 91 AKI (RON 96)*1

AKI = Anti Knock Index
RON = Research Octane

The manual for my Primera P11 Auto, write to use fuel of at least 95 octane.

Tried 95 octane, the performance is luggish, had been using 98 octane for 4mths now(my car is already 4mths old :( ), so far so good.

Wow! Are your octane readings the same as the US?

Over here, the highest I know of is 94 at Sunoco. Besides getting racing fuel. The standard medium grade gasoline is 89 octane.

From what I gather it should be RON.

The lowest available here is 92, my old Nissan Sunny (or Sentra) with 1.6 engine got no problem with that.

The next higher is 95 then 98. If I don't remember wrongly Caltex also offer 100, but it is much more expansive.

I usually use ExxonMobil which I find is a better fuel.

My 2k G20 owners manual says to use 87 or higher. But my maintenance log says to use 91 or higher. I just put in 92 to be safe.
