Please help my 98 expedition

i have a 98 expedition eddie bauer 5.4L. It has rough idle and rough excelleration. the check engine light flickers when u hammer down on the excellerator. i checked all the ohms on the coils and they all read good. i put a snap on scanner to it it is said it was fine. no codes no nothing. my father and the mechanic that works at my job couldnt figure it out. please help me. this is my wifes car that she uses to bring the kids to school. [email protected] i dont have a lot of money to bring it to the ford dealer either... i tried injector cleaner, new plugs and looked for vacuum leaks.

it isn't possible for the engine light to be coming on at all without codes- try another scanner or somebody qualified to test it

I had that problem and it was one of the coils on each spark plug. The coils are about $85.00 each
