Possible exhaust leak

Ok well heres the deal, starting yesterday when i started my car up there was a rattaling sound coming from the back of the exhaust pipe. It mite be coming from the last cat. Is this an exhaust leak or could it be something else? also how much could it cost to get fixed . my car is a 1996 eclipse gs thanks for your help

probably a loose heat sheild. reach under the car and try to shake your exhaust. listen for where the rattle comes from and make it stop.

ok i took your advice and shook the pipe. nothing happend but when u hit the pipe with your hand you hear something rattaling. i cant really tell if its coming from inside the pipe or near it.

I think someone put a rock in your exhaust pipe man.

okay well i found the problem,!! the heat sheild is laying right on the pipe and i was able to reach my hand in and lift it up. the one bolt is broke. ill prolly get it fixed tomorow or take it to meinike this weekend thanks for your help 1stgen
