Engine build-up underway, need info!

first of all, I have a 88 hatch with a b16a which is stock but runs great
(14.5 @ 95 mph) and is reliable.
I have a bunch of extra parts laying around and want to build a engine just for the fun and experience, so although the combination may seem wierd, I dont want to hear that "its a waste of time" or "its not worth it". I just want to know if it can be done.
Parts I can use:
block: d16a6 single cam ( 91 si engine)
My major question is can Gen 1 b16a pistons be used in this block? I know it is a single cam, but they are both 16valve and 1.6L of displacement. I also have b16a1 connecting rods. Is there a combination of d16a6 parts and b16 that will make it work?
head: I will be using either a d16a6 head or a newer single cam v-tec head with all Pre-obd electronics (distributor, intake manifold, low-impedence injectors, etc)
Once again, I am not looking for the absolute best setup or most power, but just a chance to build my own engine and get more experience. Dont worry about any difficult wireing as I can re-wire just about any honda. If anyone has any tips or expeience, let me know.
I am not in any hurry as I am content with my b16 and just want to build something with the parts I have.
Thanks for all your help!

yes you can go to homemadeturbo.com and search for a the ls rod swap

don't know if it can be done, but if the b16 is reliable, why mess w/ it?

i couldn't tell u off the top of my head if the b16 pistons and rods will fit u'r d16 block. the way to tell is simple though. find the bore and stroke of both blocks and then u'll know. also check the diameters of the rod journals on both cranks. i know the d16 is 75mm x 90mm. as for the diameter of the rod jounrals, not sure. i think the b16 is 85mm x 70mm, but i'm not 100%. and again I don't know about the rod journals. so i guess i did just tell u whether or not they'll fit and it's looking like no.
i believe one of the things Ones&Zeros was referring to is the b18 rods swapping over to the d16. also the b18 throttle body will swap over to the z6 intake manifold (i know for a fact). as for the other d16 intake manifolds, i'm not too sure.
edit: Duffman, not Ones&Zeros. thanks for the heads up.

if you want to run ls rods, i wouldnt also it says something about having to shave down the rod. but hes talking about a b16 not a ls. b16 bore is 81mm, and the d at 75mm wont work. yeah a ls tb would work that pretty much it, manifold dont work head eosnt work block doesnt work. i personally wouldnt do that ls rod bs but thats just me.

I THINK THAT WAS DUFFMAN, I WAS JUST SAYING TOO WORK ON THE D16 WHILE THE B16 WAS HIS DRIVER....LIKE MAYBE MAKING IT A V-TEC.

ok yes i know he was talking about b16 not b18 parts. i was just pointing out that there r sum b parts that can swap over. thank u on the correct b16 bore size i wasn't positive, but i was positive it was too large. that makes the stroke too short by simple algebra, so the b16 rods wouldn't work either. the b18 rod doesn't have to be altered, it's one of two options. either u alter the wristpin hole on the b18 rod, or u alter the wristpin on the d-series piston. it's actually perfectly safe to do either way, just a lot of work for not a big upgrade.
