240 engines

OK i Know the ka24e, sr20, and rb26 fit in a 240 but i was wondering what other engines would fit. spacificly a ka24de out of a 2001 altima or whats the best engine i can get until i save the money for a sr20 or better engine for the car. I'm looking for a cheap engine without gimping the car.

forgot. whats the diff between a sr20 red top and black top?

Ive seen a 5.0L mustang V8 in a 240 but its not very common. ANy swap could be done with the right amount of money.

the S13 redtop vs S13 blacktop is same just different color
S14 blacktopo has vvt i believe
S15 has bigger injectors and better turbo

the rb26dett needs a lot of modifications to fit

the rb25det has less mods required

the rb20det isnt worth the price

the ka24de-t is a custom turbo setup that produces a massive amount of power when done properly [they are selling kits for it now]

the ka24e doesnt make as much power and im not sure they have kits for it

the vg30dett the 300zx engine can also fit, quite expensive though to fit

notto hard just a lot of extra parts you have to get. it adds a good amount of time to the swap

depends if your doing all the labor yourself. On how hard shit is. Just save for the sr, or go ka-t. Dont bother with anything until you get the money. Why do you want to get rid of your current ka until you get enough money for the sr????

seats will fit no problem. i dont know about hte rest of it.

Why is the 2001 KA24DE better than the one you have? Your KA should be good past 150K miles at worst. You should be able to get into 13 second 1/4 mile time with a stock block, naturally aspirated KA24DE.

OK what is a ca18det? is that like the german sr20 or something. i found one for $100 but i want to know something about it first. i seen the specs and they look ok but anyone know if it's worth it?

It's a 1.8 liter 4cyl turbo that came in the 88-90 S13s and 89-90 RS13s. The SR came in the PS13 and RPS13.

IS it worth it. $100 for the ca18det tranny and engine? i've heard good and bad about this engine. I have a ka24de in now. would this be a upgrade worth doing for now since its kinda cheap?

For 100$, what the hell, I say do it, if if doesn't work, you can prolly sell it for 500$.
