Hi, short time lurker, first time poster here.
I am replacing both of the driver's side (front & rear) window regulators on my 91 Camry LE. I have bought the front window regulator, but I was wondering if someone could confirm or deny that the front and rear window regulators (of the same side) are identical for this model. I can't seem to find the Rear window regulator anywhere, so im hoping they are the same to save me some grief and a trip to the junkyard.

In case anyone is interested, or finds this post later, no, the regulators are not the same for the driver and rear side on 87-91 Camrys. The mounting bar for the rear door will not fit on the drivers door and vice versa. Rear door parts are hard to find, so I reccomend a trip to your local automobile graveyard.
Now I have a new question. Today, I obtained a used window regulator for the rear window. After moutning it and attaching the wires, I found the same problem that I had beforehand: The window will go down, but not up. I swapped the switch with the passenger side switch and found the same problem while the switch originally on the driver's side work immaculatly on the passenger side. Im definitely getting power to the switchs harness, but cant seem to find anything else wrong. Can someone reccomend a course of action for finding the source of this problem?

Another update from me.
The window will operate if I connect the wire for the switch's down position to the up wire on the motor. Thus, I can make the window go up (but not down) by pressing down on the reqired switch. However, I more or less connected the up wire to the harness and still got nothing (while properly wired). So Im really guessing that either both of my harnesses are bad, or that I lost my (ground?) connection on my red wired with the black markings.

My left rear window would only go down on a 94 camray. I used an alternate power source to get the window up until the weekend. Found ground wire was bad within wire harness between door and door post. Had to replace it. Was not easy job. But window works correctly.

Yes, I seem to have a problem with the Red&Green wire with a black line (part of the 'up' wiring) between the door post and where the line runs into the master (driver's front) window controls. Will be running some tests on it eventually to find the pad part and replcae. Taking off the moldings doesnt sound too fun.
If anyone needs a short term solution, I simply connected my dead wire to it's live counterpart for the down switch state: This is what I did and apparently the person above me did as well. Hopefully this will work ok (window currently works fine) till this weekend or next week when I can find the dead portion. On wednesday ill finally have my drivers door windwo regulator and ill be back to 4 power window again :p.
Next project: Find bad wiring between turn signal switch and light fixture
Convert air conditioning system to modern system (if this is possible and legal).
Fix errant ventilation for heating.
Look into DIY sunroof installation.

Why not R&R the whole window op harness and be done with it.
You connect it at the master switch panel and run it along inside the door through a plastic loom, through the rubber tube and out to the
connector by the fuse box

Hi, Treeboo -
I'm seeking your help with a similar problem.
The master panel on my '90 won't operate the windows, but it does
operate the door locks. I swapped out the panel w. an identical one, which did the same thing. Mine worked fine in the other car.
The windows work fine at each door with that door switch
I have continuity all the way to the LF door motor, and a new window
harness was installed last year.
It has to be a poor ground, but I'm lost trying to sort it out.
I'd very much appreciate your thoughts on this one
