Does anyone know a site for Pontiac 3.8L information (L36)?
Or can anyone answer the following questions about it?
-dry weight
-'ready to run' weight
-dimensions (L,W,H)
-bellhousing bolt pattern (fits what tranny?)

Thanks

I don't know the exact weights of the motor, I do know its approx 115 lbs heavier than an 2.5L 4 Cylinder, if that helps. Also, to say they're all buick blocks are niave. Its just a production motor that GM designed to run in different lines of their vehicles. Newer ones are run in (to name a few):

Monte Carlos
Park Avenue
Grand Prix
Regal

Try looking at www.l67swap.com . They're forums have some decent information. I can do a measurement on my L67 that I have, and let you know. What were you curious about?

I don't mean to sound bad, cuz i am asking for help here.... but i thought specifying L36 was enough.... so i'll explain....
I'm looking for the above information for an L36, a Series II 3.8L engine. This engine was used in the Pontiac Grand Prix (and other cars), from 1996 to present, with the exception of the newer GP's (which are a series III). I'm not looking for information on the supercharged model (L67) (althought that info would be alright), ot the pre-96 buick block 3.8L. The Series named 3.8L engines are ALL badged as GM blocks, with no specific division. This reason is that it is now a revised version of the old '70's GM 3.8L block with the 3.800" stroke (same as the 350's V8).
P.S. Thanks RamdonTask, for the weight info. And if you ever decide to measure you engine can you send me the dimensions, but don't bother if its too much of a hassle.

ok... so i found the weights of the engine....
for anyone else that cares to know->
the weight can vary depending on options from 375lbs to 450lbs
I assume that the dry weight is 375, and the fully optioned, supercharged, and oiled engine weights 450lbs...
Amzingly enough, the Cadillac Northstar only weights 25lbs more in all aspects (dry and full options).
WOW!!!
Significant size difference though...

The caddy motor is all aluminum (I believe). From personal experience and references, the motor isn't that great. While its a great concept (aluminum DOHC V-8) It wasn't designed that well. Go on ebay and try to find a high mileage northstar...

Not a hassle at all, I'll measure it as best I can tommorow :)

(from looking at the front pulleys)

Height: 27 inches
Width: 24 inches
Length: 22 inches

These aren't exact, but i did my best. Do remember I have the supercharger sitting a top my assembly.
