When you upgrade to a point, the stock intake can become a significant restriction. Many people on 3si, and a few on here have upgraded the MAS as it is a wider diameter and allows more air. Alone on a close to stock car, you probably wont see much of an increase, unless you get the MAF Translator as well and do some tuning with it. However if you have upgraded your turbos, you can see some decent performance gains from it. Another option, some users opt for a blow-thru setup rather than our stock setup, the ls1 and ls6 mafts are circular, not oval, and thus are easily adaptable when going that route.

The MAF Translators for 3000gt most of the time call for a LS1 From a TransAm/Camaro or a Z06. True its very compatible with most other intake lines... most people like to get the Circular shap so they can put it after the turbo on a intercooler pipe right before the throttle body...
it has been said that the LS1 and LS6 MAF are more percise plus if you do put it after the turbos it is more percise...
basicully better reading in how much air you take in, then better it is to set the fuel ratio to it...
