Improving Gas Mileage

I will be getting a 2001 Accord v-6 four-door soon and I want to know what will help the most to improve gas mileage. I already know that I will be getting an AEM air intake, but I'm not sure if I should go with the cai or the srai. Any help on this would be nice. Thanks in advance.

Make sure you keep your tires at the recommended pressure plus 2 psi.

recommended tire pressure should be on a plaque on the driver door frame...either on the frame of hte car, or on the door.

SRAI and CAI for all intensive purposes are the same thing. People will argue it all they want, and that is fine they are welcome to thier opinions, but mine is that while driving there is air circulating under your hood as well. A few feet of piping don't make a difference. An intake is an intake is an intake, no matter how you package it. If you want to do some searching, you will find thousands of threads debating the difference, so you can formulate your own opinion.

My understanding is that recommended tire pressures are a compromise between low rolling resistance and ride comfort. I have always run my tires about 3 psi higher than recommended. The ride difference is not noticeable, and the rolling resistance is slightly reduced. (And tire wear is not affected - gross over-inflation will wear the center before the edges).

By far the greates impact on gas mileage is the way you drive. If you're a leadfoot, it doesn't matter much WHAT mods you bolt on.

If, on the other hand, you are (mentally and environmentally) in a position to acelerate very gently, keep your speed down, coast up to red lights (on the offchance they'll change), etc, you'll tyipically pick up 3-6 mpg routinely.

Tire pressure, engine oil (try synthetic), and how you gas your car. Make sure you have recently change fuel filter and clean gas injectors.

Also will help if you try different gas station (different brand) I tried different brand and so far Shell and Arco as my mechanic recommended me and those two brand actually gives me more milage and smoother acceleration.

Also the heat and A/C and also keeping the air filter clean, whether it's stock or aftermarket intake.
