how did you set your digital camera for model?

hi,
I saw many good model picture on this forum.,, and I had try few cameras, but the pictures came out not very good.
could you guys write down some camera setting for taking model pictures?

This is the setup I use for indoor photos

this is my setup for outdoor pics.

The only thing I do with the camera is to set it on manual and adjust the white balance according to the actual light conditions. Also remember to switch of the flash as it will do it's best to ruin the picture taken.
Hiroboy's little photo studio is a brilliant idea when the weather doesn't allow you to take pics in daylight.

I set the camera to the smallest aperture (ie F8), to get everything in focus. Make sure you have a macro setting if you want to do up close shots, If you dont, then shoot from further back and crop the bit you want with a graphics program. It is also important to get good light, outside in the shade on a bright day is the best. A tripod or some other way of holding the camera is useful, especially if using slow shutter speeds. Forget using flashes.

Cool "studio" setup there Steve. Great idea to diffuse the light through the fabric.

Whats the frame Steve? Looks like the support from the inside of a filing cabinet.

I use the macro function (close-up) setting on my fuji finepix. It's not the best but better than my last camera (which was a disposable!)

Put it in manual, macro, set white ballance, up the fs and use a tripod.

This is the result from the setup above

It's made from parts I found in my garage.
Threaded Rod with Plastic Thumb Nuts
Yellow bases are Magnets
Blue Plastic Tubing
This way it will dis-assemble easy when not needed.
The fabric is Tent material (very thin) drapped over the suuport frame.

It needs some more work, mainly to make it taller, and sew up the fabric so it is tawt.

My camera setting are for the Nikon D70 DSLR and the above studio :
Manual Mode
Shutter speed : 1/25 Sec
Aperture : f20
Exposure Comp : +1 2/3 EV
Metering Mode : Multi Patern

I think that one needs to experiment if you`re unsure of setting on your camera. When i take pictures, i take, let´s say 10 from the same angle but experiment with whitebalance and exposure.
And flash is a no-no.

thats an awesome setup. My technique is take out side on a hot sexy day like today find shade and take some pictures with the way hiro boy has on his site. I wish hiro could take pictures of my cars. i think pictures bring out the car just as much as building it

That looks like a fairly thin white tarp. I would use a nice clean white sheet. I wish I had a nice digital camera so I could take these great of pictures. Also could use a true macro lens for my film camera.

photo store have this.. but it's a bit pricy.

Ah. Well, I can make an elevated base for indoors, but for outdoors I'd want the lower tripod.

Hmm, maybe buy the cheaper tripod at Best Buy and grind out the mount to let the legs swing out more.....
