New owner. GP GT. Yeah. I just bought the car and the guy couldn't remeber the last time he changed the oil, no sticker. So I'm doing it this weekend. How hard is the oil filter to pull off? My old honda was a bitch to get off even after i would hand itghten it. My GF's tundra it's easy. Thanks.

If you can get it up in the air, it's easy. If not, take it somewhere. For $18.00, why get dirty.
Good luck

Fram is one of the worst filters you can get. Go with AC delco or Purolator or Mobil 1.

You don't even need a jack to remove the filter. Turn your wheels hard right and you can reack it through the fender well. I use Mobil 1 filters most of the time. Store didn't have them when I changed mine last month so I bought a K&N.

I use NAPA NASCAR Select Spin Flow filters. No problems.

I agree and then what do you do with the old oil.
It took me months to clean up the last house I bought from a driveway
mechanic,he had a 45 gal drum in the back he used.
Plus I interlocked the drive way a couple of years ago its scary enough
just changing the oil on my bike.
.

Most oil change places will take old oil.

They use to do that around here now they charge a fee,
Also the lube shops do a change in 10 or 15 min.
But that drum I had a hell of a time getting rid of it because I wasn't sure what all was in it.
I had to pay a chem waste company to take it.

Should have made the previous homeowner remove it with a threat of calling the EPA.

My brother-in-law always drive his Mercury/Ford cars onto a 2x4 on 1 wheel and do his oil change without jack or ramp.
Having all GM cars, I use rhino ramps for oil/filter change; there is no way my hand can reach the drain plug without the car is up... I use the ramp because I also can clean/grease the underside...

oil changes are pretty straight forward on a GP. nothing to it but having it done is also a nice option. i would stay away from FRAM, they are not a good choice but to each their own.

so uhh no real facts as to what makes one better? Id rather change a 3$ fram every 1000 miles and know its clean than change a 20$ k/n every 3 k and hope it has good filtration.

all i am saying is that sometimes you get what you pay for. if you are serious about something you, or at least i do, tend to research the subject and try to make a valid decision based on what you know as well as what other people in the same field know. i am not taking sides as far as mobile 1 vs. K&N or any others. all i am saying is listen to others and look into it as much as you feel you need to.

Cut apart a Fram. The end caps that support the filter in the can are usually treated CARDBOARD. The anti drainback valve seats on the cardboard. On other brands they are usually METAL. Google search on "oil filter tests" and see the article someone did from the sho club a few years ago. It will make you leery about fram who also private labels many other brands. I won't buy Fram anymore after reading it.

I've got a pretty good mouth piece he told me I could ether pay him or
pay to get rid of it my choice.
Wish I had a known about this forum then, I could have posted all the parts he left behind.
Boxes of brake pads, filters all kinds of stuff.
Sorry for being OT just had to vent once I started thining about it.
I think I've got a Purolator filter and have never had a hard time getting filters off maybe the seals not getting lube before they go on?
