Problem removing wheel studs

Two of my wheel studs on one wheel broke so I have only 3 lug nuts holding on my passenger front wheel, not safe. So I bought the studs and new nuts, took it all apart, and there's no way to get the studs out!! From the looks of I would have to press out the hub, in which case I might as well buy a whole new assembly. Just wondering if anyone else has either had or heard of this problem and what was done to solve it?

I coulda sworn 92vr4red just had this happen a week ago or less. Was it a rear wheel or front, because supposedly the front is easier. I found quite a few threads on 3si and linked a few of them in 92vr4red's thread. Look back over the past few days.

Here are the threads I was talking about...if you need more I can do more searching on 3si

If you could do some more searching that would be great...I wish I could get on 3si but I have the free email only. Those links don't help too much with my problem. The one guy on the second link you gave, Kgizzle1, said that he did both the front and rear of his car. He explained the rear, maybe he could explain the how to do the front if you asked? Any help is appreciated.

yeah i did have that problem and i still do... it was my rear that had a stud broken... i just drilled out the lug and stud... but yet to replace it... i got a stud from mitsu but havent got around to replaceing it... and if the case is that you have to press it into the hub then im screwed because the rear hubs arnt bolted on and i dont know how to get them off...
and dont worry i didnt find those posts on 3si very helpfull either...

im screwed because the rear hubs arnt bolted on and i dont know how to get them off...

here's how to remove them. yes, the hubs are bolted in, but they're also bolted to a bunch of other parts. i'll have to replace my right rear hub b/c my alignment is still off by a few degrees (recall my run in with the wall a few months ago...).

these pics should help. marked in blue are the control arms that are attached to the rear hub. the pics show the left rear hub, but its the same for the right rear hub. also, the hub, i believe, is attached (and maybe be one part in all) to the rear strut, so you might have to remove the rear strut, which is held in by 2 bolts from the top (remove the access panels in the trunk underneath the trunk cover where you would install a rear strut bar.
_________
EDIT: after inspecting the pics again, it looks as if the strut can be removed from the hub assembly. i haven't looked close enough on my car to see how to do it, but it shouldn't be too hard. oh, and an impact wrench would be of great help here to remove suspension parts...that or 1/2" drive ratchet with an extension or breaker bar.

_____________

so i think a rear hub would be fairly expensive...you're best bet (and mine too since i need to replace mine) is to get a used one [IN GOOD CONDITION THAT IS] from a junkyard/salvage yard. search www.car-parts.com for parts like this... the mitsu dealer will rip you off, i don't even wanna know what one goes for retail.

only problem i have with thtat rear hubs is that its not that big@$$ bolt on the side liek the front... the rear has either been pressed or they has a totally dif bolt assembly... really if it was a bolt i would need a special tool to remove it... that or do as you showed in the diagrahms... take it all apart :(

lol. well take the hub off and see if you can replace them your self... and if what you said is true, that it needs to be press on... the take it to a machine shop and have them do it...
i mean if you comprehend the basic build up and you cant do it your self a machine shop can.

I found some info on it, you need a special tool that removes and presses on the hub. I'll have to go to the dealer and see if i can get it.
