No--metered air is escaping whether it goes through a filter or not.

joemathews is right...the air that vents out of the bov doesn't get back into the motor no matter what you put on the bov, unless it's the recirc tube putting the air back into the intake. The air that escapes has already been seen, and the computer adjusts the mixture of fuel that is required for that amount of air. When it escapes, the mixture is off a bit, cauing you to run rich. Put the recirc tube on :)

The title of this thread is bizarre.

i want to know if you can make some kind of flapper on the bov so that it doesnt leak under vacuum. it would still run rich between shifts but it would solve the rich idle from it opening under vac. then it would be worth venting lol get a fireball between shifts and still have a decent idle. :evillol:

I ran a similar setup for years. I used a one way check valve to keep from pulling air in at idle and stalling and all that. The richness between shifts has been blown up by the internet. If you are between gears you are off the gas, hard to be too rich. You'll get the occassional pop out the ehxuast but if you arent putting power down who cares :) Plus, if the car is moving and you let off the gas, the ECU cuts fuel.

At any rate it can be done with some creative shopping in the plumbing department at home depot. But I wont get into details now. It didnt work in the end, the MAFt offered a large improvemtn still. But it was daily driveable for 2-3 years. I also wont go into all the BOV pressure controls I rigged up to manipluate that valve into doing what I wanted it to. Lots of work. Good leanring experience, but in the end still less than ideal.
