Hello, I just got a '93 Celica GT and would like to install a new stereo in it. The problem I am haveing is that I can't figure out for the life of me how to take the old one out. Can someone please help? What panels do you have to remove (if any) or what do you have to remove to get it out.

remove the trim around the shifter, then unscrew the 2 screws at the bottom near the ashtray. Then pull off the trim around the outside of the stereo. Then go from htere

i have the manual if you want a few pages from it. Send me a PM. I did my 89 stereo yesterday. Made a stupid foul up, but it still looks kinda good. I shopped around and managed to get everything to install my stereo for about $15 total...maybe $16. Yeah, i'm a cheapie. Do it yourself, its unbelievably easy. That includes wiring harness, wire connectors and the metra kit to put it in. If you're interested in knowing how i'd tell you in a PM.
Basic instructs are (after disconnecting the negative terminal to the battery)- remove the ash tray- if you have one, and take out ALL THE SCREWS. Open glove compartment, remove the screw and bolt adjacent to the center trim piece. Do the same with the trim under the steerign wheel. You may need to remove more srews to be able to put the trim far enough to remove the dash. When you get all the screws, pull out the dash trim- but if you car is like mine, not all the way. THere's a wire connecter that attaches to your cigarette lighter and some other light. Detach thatn THEN remove your trim. The stereo- if you have a double dim like my 89- has 4 screws facing fowarad. Remove them and pull out the stereo slowly. undo the wire connectors in the back and then pull out the power cable. This power cable is the toughest to get out, but it WILL come out. Try not to use the wire, but the metal, to yank it out or this will become really expensive really fast. ANd, as the manual says, repalcement is the reverse ;-)
