My car was driving perfectly fine last night and this morning...Me and my friend went to get a pack of cigs, come back to the house, parked in the driveway and my car started ideling really horrible...The boost gauge read only 4 vac...So i popped the hood, took the plug wires off, made sure they were all ok, blew them all out, put them back in, made sure all hoses and lines were connected, then started it back up...Same thing. It sounds like it's misfiring. The idle is real low and rough, shakes the damn car...If left to idle for maybe a minute, it dies out....So i took it around the block, drives perfect until it comes to idle...What can it be!?

EDIT > i forgot to mention, when i was coming back towards my house from the trip around the block, my friend said my car was smoking... :(

Sounds exactly what was mine was doing, when my LICP pipe was like half off. Check that. My car was smoking also when it blew off.

that's on there tight, along with all the other hoses...i went to my mechanic and he had me take the wire out while the motor was running to see if they were all sparking...i got shocked 4 times, so that's fine...then he told me to take it home and take the upper timing belt cover off...so i did, and the timing marks look way off...i'm not sure of this is the *proper* way to check, but here's a pic....

EDIT > i used mspaint to put redmarks on the cam gears because it was hard to see the actual marks.

are those marks are when the #1 piston is at tdc?? if it is then your timing is WAY off and i'd get that fixed immediately, do not drive it or even start it until you get it fixed or you'll risk bending valves if you haven't already.

that's not piston 1 at TDC...didn't bother with it because i was thinking if the marks are off like that, no matter how it spins, they won't line up. my mechanic also said it could possibly be a bad injector...but still, how could my timing be off that much? i know it's possible to slip a tooth, but there's no way in hell i slipped any teeth earlier, i wasn't even on the throttle that much...like i said it ran perfect until a little earlier...

you're not going to be able to tell hot much the timing is off unless the #1 piston is at tdc. sometimes they slip when you start the car but i don't know why it would just do it now. put the #1 piston at tdc and then take another picture. make sure you get the revolution when the timing marks are closest to each other though when it's at tdc.

ok i put piston 1 at TDC and the marks were dead even :) not only that i called my mechanic and we sat and thought about it for a good 20min or so...then he told me to check my egr valve....he said try taking the vacuum line off because it might be stuck....well when i went to do that, i noticed that the egr valve was just hanging there...not even tightened down! so i let the vac line be and tightened that bitch...idles/drives perfectly smooth now :)
