Ok so I just got a 99 Grand Prix GT. Very nice car I might add anyways... Its got the controls on the steering wheel and I'm going to put some new stereo equipment in there and was wondering if those will work with a new CD player or if they wont. Maybe there is something you can do to make them work I dont know but if anyone knows or could help please post something. Also I had a question about speaker size... I'm thinking 5 1/4's in the front and 6x9's in the back. Does that sound right? Anyone put those sizes in and had fitment problems?

okay first off some stereo's have a special wire that hooks up to the remote where other have adapters. it is 6x9 in back and I went with a three way speaker from infinity but thats all preference. 5 1/4 sounds about right again you can go with a two or three way speaker (better sound in my opinion)

You will need a PAC SWI-X Steering Wheel Radio Control Interface. You can probably get it at www.crutchfield.com You can also check what speaker size u need by doing a search by Year, Make, and Model on there also.

Just remember - your radio is a "module" in a lot of recent GM vehicles. Don't be suprised if you change it and your door chimes and other things stop working. Some GM products the door chime is generated by the radio and outputs thru the door speaker. No biggie just don't be surprised.

So do you mean by chimes the noise the car makes when the door is open and the key is left in the ignition?

That happend to my friends 03 Grand Am GT. He put a new Pioneer Head Unit in it and the door chime sounds really weird. Why is the door chimes and all that ran by the radio?
