Airbag light and dash gauges

I have a 99 cherokee sport that is intermittently showing me the "airbag" warning light. When the light is on, the speedo and tach shut down. Sometimes at startup all of the gauges are shut down. I can watch the dash while driving and see the light come on and the gauges shut down and vice versa.

I guess my questions are what do these things have in common? Is there a shared relay or ground connection I should be looking for?
