Just purchased a 89 Cherokee Ltd. for son. Overall in very good shape. Two questions: 1) Does anyone know where I might find an owners manual? 2) There's a small plastic housing inside/center/just above rear view mirror on overhead. It's missing something there. It has wiring but nothing is there. Any ideas on what it might be ( clock maybe? ) and where I might be able to replace it???.........Thanks in advance for any info.

plastic housing holds a dark lens that is used by the auto lamp shutoff

electric eye behind lens turns headlights off after a period of time

i could copy my manual if you need one

The small overhead console houses the sensor for the keyless entry. Do you have the keyfobs?

If not, it's WAY too expensive to replace. I bought an aftermarket one from Audiovox for $50 which inlcuded 2 transmitters.

I purchased my Jeep (I think Chilton's) repair manual at Pep Boys Auto parts. you can probably obtain a copy to view at your local library too. Your son should have many hours of fun with his Limited Jeep Cherokee.

I also recommend you look for "Jeep Owner's Bible" by M. Ludel (Bentley Publishing)

I recently purchased a 1988 Limited and have been having fun with the modification (i.e. liftkit and such).

Happy Jeepin
