10k for a car need ur help

hey i am 16 yrs old and need a car my parents sayd they will pick up the bill for 10k and and i need ur help ive looked at the 300zxtt the 3000gt vr4 a stealth r/t turbo and some others. i was wondering if u knew of some used cars in that price range that will get up and go quick. i had a 98 eclipse that i blew a rod on and its not worth fixing PLZ HELP

yes i can i have found most of them in my area and some even cheaper but what do u suggest ??

Don't even think about buying a car that fast at your age. You'll get into big trouble for sure. Try something a little less frenetic, like maybe a '94-'01 Integra GS-R or '95-'98 200SX SE-R. You can find plenty of those for under 10K easily. Any 3000GT VR-4 or 300ZX TT you find for under 10K will probably have at least a few problems.

hey man i understand ur trying to look out for me and stuff but i really want those cars and if its like 12 or 13 im sure i can pick up the remainder of the price so just plz let me kno which would u choose and why also if there is another car like in category that i might be able to pickup (insurance is not a problem)

There was a stealth R/T TT in the paper here for 7,000. I went and looked at it. It was perfect. You might get lucky and find one for that price. But, you should start on something slower. If I was 16 with a TT stealth, I would go godspeed in the bitch. Start on something more..I dunno...Slow. Not to sound like you dont want fast, but starting on fast like that is pretty nuts. I started on a vtec del sol (Was not mine, was my aunts.) It was real fast for a first time driving...Dont live by numbers, drive it first. Make sure you can handle it.

really what yr was this rt ??? and guys i honestly want these kind of cars ive had an eclipse and all i had was problems soo im sure if i get a higher "quality" car there shal be less of these problems also a turbo is not mandatory but at least 200 and up

Because if you try to learn the basic fundamentals of driving on an all-out sports car like the ones you have listed, there's a good chance that will happen. But, in case you decide not to listen to me or others who will tell you the same thing (very likely), go with the 300ZX TT.

The stealth I looked at was a 92. It was about a month ago. it has to be gone by now. I woulda baught it if I had saved my money instead of getting my alltrac. If you insist on a fast car for under 10, I also think the 300zx would be good. No major problems. Stealth's/3000gt's (Same car) have a few tranny problems if im not mistaken. Any of these will be fast enough for you. You'll see that it might be to much for you. If you have to buy one and crash to find out, thats your problem :grinno:

It's quite simple really. You're a new driver, so you don't have the experience, and therefore the presence of mind, to control a car at the limit. The cars you're talking about here are very fast, and much more prone than other cars to get to the limit. If you get a 300ZX TT, Supra TT, or VR-4, you're going to drive it too fast, lose control of it, not know how to save it, and crash it. I've seen it many times, and so have others. There's a reason that insurance companies charge young people through the roof for driving a sports car.

the VR4/Stealth TT aren't THAT hard to drive, they basically handle like an AWD Sedan, they just happen to have a 320 hp kick in the pants when you stand on it.

If you insist on getting one, I really can't stop you. I'd normally recommend the 300ZX TT, but they are particularly tail-happy. Look for a good condition 3000GT VR-4 and get that. The AWD will probably save you from doing anything too stupid.

what do u guys think about the subaru svx ??

The SVX would be a great first car. It's got balls and AWD, but it's still heavy, softly tuned, and easy to control.

if i were you, i would work on my typing. and what your friends drive has no impact on what you should drive or you driving abilities. im 17 and my first car was a 89 civic si. i ran that straight into the side of a van racing one of my friends. imagine what would have happened if i was driving an evo or a stealthTT. i still didnt learn my lesson because i just recently bought a 99gsx. guess ill learn the hard way...and when im older ill be saying the same thing as the posts up there. just be careful man

Here's my suggestion. Both the 300ZX and 3000GT are fine cars, even though i would pick the 300zx because it's lighter. My suggestion is to try to find one with a straight body and a little bit higher mileage of either with a NON-TURBO engine. Drive that for a few months, especially with the 300zx, you'll get a feel for rwd cars, without too much power. Than when the engine dies, or you simply want more power, swap it out for the turbo version.

Even the 300ZX N/A is it a bit much for a first car. He should get something FWD or AWD to start out with if he wants that much power.

u can call bs all u want on my friends i can have u come to az and see my friends cars also i think that i might go with a 300zx n/a or like 85 300zx turbo im not sure yet i havent found too many sstealths around here exep 2 which have been sold ... i might also look into a gsx like around a 97 98 i found those here for round 8 and ill spend the rest on like a fmic and sound or sumtin like that but what are the pros and cons of most of these my dad sayd that i should find pros and cons for all these cars i also found a z3 like a 99 and a 2000 tt what do u think about these my dad likes german cars so these play favorite for him

A 1990-1994 Eclipse GSX would be a fine first car. It's very fast with the right mods and has a gigantic aftermarket, but in stock form, it shouldn't be too hot to handle.

i just need a car soon and these options are my choices i think they will fit me fine and that i would do good with any of these cars i just would love to hear the pros and cons of these cars

I'm sure you don't want FWD, most don't, so get AWD, like the Eclipse/Talon, or 3000GT, would be my pick.

dominick, you may think you know your limitations, but believe me, you don't. Every teenager thinks they know their limitations, and when they get a fast car, they usually wreck it. It's happened to me and two of my friends, and we were all driving 16-second cars. The fact that you are considering 13-second cars for your first car is completely ludicrous, and is just asking to die. For the last time, get something more subtle and with FWD or AWD, that'll at least reduce the risk of you losing control easily.

the fastest one is the 3000GT VR4/Stealth TT in the 1/4 mile...as long as it was the 2nd gen. the 1st gen would be pretty evenly matched in the 1/4 mile with a 300zxTT.

in every other category of racing the 300ZXTT will beat the 3000GT VR4/TT. track, top speed, etc.

so really, it depends on what you want to do with your car and it sounds like you want to street race so i would go with the 3000GT. it would be a better Street Racing monster.

i wish my parents loved me enough to by me a sports car and i hope they are covering insurance too because insurance is what kills ya. :(
