new 4.3L motor

o good mechanic friend of mine said the motor in the 89 S-10 im tring to restore is shot. NE one know where i can get a new replacement motor? or possibaly a 350 to drop in it? i dont want to buy one used or rebuilt.

If it has a 4.3L you can either use another 4.3L or a V8 without changing the transmission.

If you have a 2.8L you can change to a comaro 3.4L, or just a 3.1L Swaping to a V8 will require a transmission swap

If you have a 4 banger you'll probably want more power, and since you will probably have to change transmissions anyways you might as well drop in a V8.

every thing overboard said, and im adding to check e bay for a rebuilt v 8 or go to someone like summit racing if you want brand new

putting a 350 in would be the route to go if you want more power. i wish i could find the time to do a 350 swap and afford it. dont get me wrong i love the 4.3 but a 350 would be fun and challenging. what ever you decide good luck with it and have fun doing it thats what it is all about.
