How do you fix high idle?

I found that the problem I was having with my car before was not exactly fixing itself so I just changed the throttle body. Now the problem is gone but now I have pretty high idle ONLY when the engine is cold. The idle is up near 2000 RPMS, they drop down near 1000 RPMs when the temp is at normal running. No CEL is thrown but the hight idle is really annoying. I did adjust the idle from the screw hidden by the rubber plug, does anybody know if the green wire that sits right next to the throttle linkage on the trottle body has anything to do with the idle? I believe it does because the wire is connected to a screw like thing that has a springy end on it so when the idle is engaged the throttle sits right on the spring. Would adjusting this help?

Make sure your cable is not to tight. That will do it to. I don't know about the green wire.

I know that the wire isn't too tight because the idle calms down alot when the engine is at running temp, so I don't think it could be the cable.

You could try to adjust your BISS..Base Idle Set Screw... or the TPS could be off by just a bit...
I believe the idle when warm should be about 8-850 and when cold around 12-1400... in that ballpark anyways... Mine was higher like that and boostedspyder told me I could adjust the BISS and it helped... I had another problem but don't know what it was....the biss helped though....

When I first start the car the idle goes up to about 2000 and when the temp is about normal the idle drops to about 1100. Also I noticed that I have a idle surge only when the car is cold now? The BISS screw that your referring to is that the "sensor" that has the green wire coming out of it because I tried to turn down the idle by loosening that screw and then the idle surge came into play, or since I just changed the throttle body the problem might have always been there, well in the trottle body not in my car exactly. Could somebody please explain to me how the idle when cold and idle when hot sensor thingy work, if I knew how they worked by adjusting the screws then I could figure out how to set them.

the idle hot or cold thingy is the charge temperature sensor if thats bad then you have to replace it there is no ajustments on it i dont think

Where is this sensor located at and what does it look like?

my bad dude its called the engine coolant sensor i got it know its like a thing that melts once the coolant reaches a certain temperature and it lowers idle but im not sure where its located it should be somewhere on the back of the TB somewhere near the EGR valve or in that general area not sure sorry.

its somewhere on there man it runs to the wireing harness i think but that might not even be your problem. it might not even be on the back ignore that might be on the left side next to the oxygen sensor connector or something.

Ok which wiring harness are you talking about and is the sensor easy to find and easy to replace and how important is it to have fixed? Will this cause me to burn lean or rich because if it does then I'm not throwing a CEL.

Dont think it would change the mixture all it does is when the temperature in the coolant reaches a certain mark it melts like a little thing and that causes it to lower idle most likely that isnt your problem since once the thing melts it shuts off the higher idle mode or whatever not too sure man wish i could help you. but im pretty sure it wont change your mixture. thats mostly your 02 sensor

If oil from the valve cover gets into the spark plug holes, will that cause this problem? When the problem first came up I changed the plugs and wires after already doing that before (the first time I changed the plugs I didn't gap them), I found that after I changed them the car seemed to run much better and the problem seemed to have gone away. What do all of you think?

What do I have to do if I want to change my ECU? Not to another kind but just to see if it fixes my car. I do still have this problem and many others. What do I have to do to get to the ECU I was told that it is inside the center counsel under the radio and etc.?
