Has anyone else had their driver side wiper fly off the left side of the window (over shoot). This happened to my wife two days ago during a downpour while on the highway.

I was able to bend it back into place but obviously something is up.

The exact same thing happened to my girlfriends grand prix, all of a sudden the wiper blade was resting on the side mirror. I also bent it back and it worked for awhile, but later did it again. I found out that the nut holding the wiper arm on was loose. I believe they put lock-tight on it in the factory but it obviously doesn't hold that well. I ended up just putting some lock-tight on it and tightening it down so far so good, hope that helps and better get it fixed before it happens again

Same thing happened with my car, in a rainstorm. The nut was all mangled from someone screwing it down before. We screwed it down tight again and used locktight with it. We try not to use the wipers on high unless we absolutely have to, for fear it will happen again. That happened at 30,000 miles, we've put over 50,000 miles on it since. Obviously someone had a problem with it before us.

Not a big issue. This happens on many cars. Just loctite, as stated above, and you will be fine.

Think back and think if you ever had your windshield replaced. If the installer didn't tighten down the blades or position in right place, it will go off edge. you shouldn't be able to bend back. You must be moving the blades on the shaft where the nut is that tightens them down. Recommend you to turn wipers on and cycle, then turn off and power ignition off, then untighten nut and pry blades off to reposition. Check the shaft to see if there is any damage and also the blade arms too, to make sure they are not stripped. There are tabs that the blades rest when turned off in the plastic piece just below the windshield. Set the blades against the tabs. Once in right position, and push down on wiper arm by shaft area, put nut back on and tighten down.
