We Cherokee "Die Hards" get the last laugh. I just could not stand that "Liberty" when it came out. The only bad part is my 2000 Cherokee Sport won't have that classic status afforded vehicles out of production, but who cares? My interest in new Jeeps has been re-kindled with this "Commander" ??? Yeah, right. It's Daimler-Chrysler's way of eating crow. It's a new Cherokee for goodness sake.

I had to laugh. The price will probably be out of reach for most people that would buy a cherokee. Also it's just in time for $2.50 a gallon gas prices.
Lets see what happens to GM's Denali Envoy hahahaaa. Do we have any bidders .....GM's going once ...going twice..................

Unfortunately you are probably right. The manufactures think everybody wants a four door with an automatic trans, power everything, and tons of extra gizmos. So that's almost all they offer now. If they made a more basic package it would be more affordable and get better mileage.

It's about the size of a Dodge Dakota, or a Chevy Blazer XL. Much bigger than a Cherk... And pricing is gonna start at around $30,000.
I only hope Jeep decides to build the Gladiator, or the Rescue as well.

Well lets see......... its squared off all the way around the thing, the last time i looked at a grand sherokee it was rounded just about everywhere ( although the 05 models are starting to look like the box cherokee style especially in the rear

LoL..now all they need is the Commander country model wih full wood grain side panels.
They are about 7 years too late in producing a vehicle bigger than the grand to compete with the suburban etc.
Unfortunately, GM just reported Suburban sales were off 30%.

I agree its pretty square looking but in actuality it is going to be built on the Wk platform. And like viper says, they are way late with this thing. They were talking about a big 7 passenger jeep about 10 years ago and they decided not to make it.What were they waiting for,gas prices to go up?Good timing,Chrysler.

Now, now - can't you just see it with the 6" lift, rock rails and bumpers. Get some of those big-ass super swampers on there...YEAH BABY!
Unfortunately, the suspension is probably so complicated a NASA engineer would scratch his head...then there's that minor thing about cost...
