Some flat plane ??s

I had a few flate plane ?s and i fig. this would a good place to start.
Do the really idle/ride as rough as they say?
Is it possible to take a normale every day V8 and make it a flat plane?
*not talking bout mine somthing smaller like a northstar maybe?*
If it is possible are the lighter heads and other parts needed?
Ne other info would be nice. What i know so far is more power out of a smaller liter amount. Flat plan fires 180 degrees. The firing order it differnt.Supposed to idle rougher.
