Fuse question

I just bought a used 2000 grand am gt ramair v6. Fantastic car. Cig lighter didnt work when I got it.. but it was just a fuse, replaced it... its fine now. When I was changing that fuse "fuse block under the hood" I noticed a missing fuse. It had both of the electrical contacts there so I assumed it actually did something. It was labeled "A.I.R." in the fuse block and in the manual. I placed a fuse in there, but I have no idea what it is supposed to do. I was hoping somebody here would have some idea. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated. :icon16:

If you have the manual for the car there is a diagram that shows where the fuse sits if you can find where it fits on the diagram there is a number that you match up with the key on the diagram page and that should explain what it is for if not, i cant find the site but if you goto a GM dealer they should be able to pull up a fuse diagram that has all the fuses and it tells you waht they do...

for the life of me, I can't recall what A.I.R. stands for, but iv'e seen it.

Know that some vehicles don't use all the fuse ports in the blocks, as they may not have the specific feature or option that that fuse port protects.

Secondary Air Injection.

If you don't have an air pump you won't have a need for that fuse.

Cool, but word of warning, it not such a good idea to just go around plugging fuses into ports because there isn't a fuse there. I would suggest ya just keep a spare small box or bag of fuses in all Amp ranges in your ride, like in glovebox or wherever.

The reason why is that is if ya fuse an unused port, you complete the electrical circuit, and "live-wire" the unused harness plug. Who knows what can happen then, ya know?
