Fog lights

I have a 2000 Blazer LT. It did not come with factory fog lamps, but I would like to add fog lights to it. I noticed I have a wiring harness in the dash and relay for "fog lamp". Is is possible to add factory lamps to it? How hard would this be?

Yes, get the secondary harness that runs through the engine compartment, get the light controls with the fog lamp switch. Then hook up the fog lights. You will then need to get your ECM reflashed at your local GM dealer to turn the fog lights on in the ECM/bcm

Theres a harness that connects into the main lighting harness for the OEM fog lights..

I installed the new switch on my 99 ZR2 but I did not install factory fogs. When it was hooked-up at the dealer, the computer did recognize the switch at the main module. It would show a request for power at the module when the switch was depressed. However, the module would not send a “tripping signal” to the fog light relay…What is up with this thing… A service guy told me that the factory fogs have a module built-in. Is it possible that this is why my system isn't working? The service guy did not do any additional programming. He said this was new territory for him. Is there still re-programming that needs to be done? The factory switch for my ZR2 cost around $30.00 and I would really like to get it to work.
Thanks.
Thanks.

This is just me speaking, i don't think i would go through all the trouble yall are speaking of. I installed fog lights on my 98 and it wasn't hard at all. All i did was mount me some foggers and bought a relay off ebay and wired them so they came on with my low beams just like foggers are spose to. But if you want to do it the right way just ignore me and do what rlith is saying.

If you're not using the stock fog light setup (they don't have chips in them and the bulbs aren't special) and you want to use the stock fog light swicth (momentary pulse) The easier thing for you to do would be to simply wire a couple of relays in place between the fog lights and the switch to handle the momentary pulse. This is what I did for my aux lights on my safari bar. Wired them into my mirror...(my mirror has the on-star controls). My factory fogs run off the factory switch (94-97 uses a rocker switch) You can accomplish what you want for the cost of the switch (you said 30.00) and a couple of relays..

What kind, and where did you get the relays that work with your momentary switch. Radio Shack had know clue...

Standard automotive 5 wire relays... Radio shack carries them, but get the better ones from your local stereo shop (they will also be a lot cheaper) you will need 4 relays to make the momentary switch amd 1 diode.

Thanks. I will work on it tomorrow.

I had to try one more time at the dealer. They were going to give me a "ZAP" for $40. After many hours of trouble shooting, they said that ZR2's had a different module and do not come with fogs because of height regulations...This does not make since. Why would they put the wiring, relays, and fuses in the truck, but not the same module??? Oh well. I’m done with them.

Yeah, just make your own relay harness and bypass the bcm, you can use a factory switch just fine...
