Back seat STUCK!

I can no longer pull up the back seat bottom for some reason. It will not budge even a centimeter. Is there a lock that I might have engaged that I just can't find? Anyone else had this problem. I hate not being able to put the seat down to use the full cargo space.

This is in a 2000 Yukon SLT.

I've tried feeling under the back of the seat where it should be disengaging and I can't quite tell what the problem is by feel. Just that the hook is not letting go of whatever it hooks on underneath.

I'm really hoping it is something stupid like a lock...

Thanks for any help.

Hi, I will look at mine tomorrow.
Do you have the 60/40 split bench? Which side does not work?
2000 is the New Body Style, right?

Yes it's the 60/40. Unfortunately it's the 60 that is stuck hehe. Yes it is the new body style.

Thanks for the response! Any feedback is appreciated.

Hi, here it goes. Just checked it out.
All 3 seat positions have the same hook in the middle of the seat surface.
It is a finger coming down from the top curving towards the front.
The passenger side has a latch under the strap.
The driver side has one latch right under the strap of the outside seat and another one linked to it under the center of the middle cushion.

You will need 2 people to move the 2 latches and lift the cushion.
Practice on the single seat, all 3 latches are the same.
You can push your finger up from below at the back edge and will find the latch nose moving towards the back.
The tip of the nose is like a wedge, you push against the slanted front.
Please let me know, if this is not clear enough.

Thanks! I will have to give it go when I have an extra set of hands. I think I understand what you are saying. I have been monkeying with it for a few weeks now when I remember to so I believe I know what to do. Just need that second person.

Wonder why it locked up to begin with though. It was working flawlessly before.

Hi,
the link between the two hooks may be broken, so the middle seat hook may not release.

That is what I am starting to think. I got a second person today to work at it and we both couldn't get it to budge. Hmm will have to get better acess to see if that might be the problem.

Thanks for all the help though!
