Ok got all the kinks in the motor worked out and i want to drive this sucker and my dad is leaving tomorrow morning and things are always easier w/ 2 people. I can't get my clutch to disengauge, i have the d15 vtec using the 89 HF Tranny, i used the 93 civic si clutch kit w/ the z6 flywheel, since the clutch kit came w/ a throw out bearing for a hydo tranny i used my HF one, What have i done wrong here, did i use the wrong clutch kit or what, i was told that i could use this kit as long as i used the z6 flywheel. Is the 89SI throw out bearing differ from the HF? What could be causing the prob, We also have the clutch cable adjusted as far as it will go and it still will not disengauge. Help Please. I want to get this thing going while i have an extra set of hands around. Thanks Scott.

im using a hydro clutch with my cable trans and it works fine, i also used my 91dx throwout bearing and its working all good. it might have to do with the clutch cable. take the clutch cable off the bracket holding it in, and pull up on it and the clutch arm should come up alittle and when it stops, thats where you clutch is engaging so then tighten the clutch cable via that little screw weird black circular thing.

ok here's a new one. I put a little lock tight on the flywheel bolts and stuff, well turns out it ran down onto the clutch pad and pretty much supper glued my clutch disk to the flywheel. So civickiller, you think if i get it all cleaned up and not use locktight on the bolts everything will work ok w/ my HF throw out bearing.

Cool tomorrow i'll put it all back together and see what i got. Things are a little tight w/ that new d15vtec in there than w/ the HF cause of the location of the collant hoses and all the new wiring but we got it out ok but i felt like a dumb ass when i saw that lock tight on the clutch disk and flywheel, we actually had to pry the clutch disk from the flywheel to get it off, but we didn't crack or damage anything so it's all still good but man what a pain in the ass

make sure you clean it really good

What would you clean it with, i was going to get some 180 grit sand paper and sand it a little to get the locktight off and clean it w/ laquer thinner so there isn't any residue left.

yeah sand paper should work for the clutch but just dont sand too much down. and a razor for the flywheel should clean that off

nice job. and brave of you to tackle the job on your own. wish i had the right equipment...

The only thing that i needed air tools for was the crank bolt, everything else is hand tools. I did it that way so i didn't break anything. Also a sauldering iron isn't very expensive so that's all you need besides 8mm(dizzy) or philips head, 10mm, 12mm, 14mm, 17mm(used the most it seems like), 19mm(tranny fill), adjustable wrench for o2 sensor, and a big hammer. and from there it's just doin it, oh wire strippers are handy for a swap too. There are other tools to get and use that can make the job easier but escentially that's really the majority of what you need to get it done minus all the parts to use the tools on. but honestly as far as the stuff to do it, if you have some old steel rims you don't even need jack stands, but they are nice to have but it's just takes really wanting to get it accomplished.

How About The Tranny Did U Slip It Out From The Car?

Yea, i droped the motor w/ teh tranny attatched, but i had to repull the tranny to get to teh clutch prob, so i got everything loose and just kept a jackstand w/ a piece of wood to hold it up so it wouldnt fall and when i was ready to pull it i just got underneath at raised the tranny w/ one arm and pushed the jack stand out of the way and let it lower slow snd worked the tranny out on my chest and then just scooted off the the side and set it on the floor, the only bitch was all the fluid wasn't out of the tranny cause i was in a hurry so i got a little bit of an oil bath but other than that it wasn't so bad. The bottom starter bolt seemed to be the biggest bitch.

Take the starter off and fill thru the fill hole. it's a bitch getting to the bolt at the bottom but it makes it easier and less time consuming in the long run. I got a clutch now byt he way too, i used the hydro clutch kit w/ the hf throw out bearing and since i got all the lock tight off it seems to be working good, i found a broken motor mount so its coming in a 1:00 and once thats on there it's on the road again, finally back on the road again, oh sorry lol!! just excited that it's finally pretty much wraped up!!!

mines under the starter, you can fill them at the level hole w/ the other method where you squeeze the oil in but it was easier for me w/ the one below the starter. Finally got to test dive it today and man what a differnece than the HF, i am happy w/ the results, and you can definatly feel vtec kick in. Thanks again for everyones help to make this happen for me!!!!

works like a dream now, that lock tight sure does make a seal when it sticks, cause we tried to break it loose just to see if something was hanging, we'd get it up to about 5000 rpm and start in on the brake to try and break it loose and it held tight
