:screwy: I've a problem with my 98 DOHC Taurus recently. The engine occasionally fails to fire after a few minutes turning-off. I've taken it to check the start system, but it was found the starter, alternator and battery are good, the technicians could not duplicate the problem, so they couldn't give me any recommendations. By carefully inspecting, I found if the fuel pumping can not be heard when turning the key to the start position, the engine will not fire definitely. Usually I have to wait for some 30mins, and then after the fuel pumping comes back, the car can go again. One of the technicians told me it seems like some electrical problems. I think so. How about your opinion? Thanks.

I don't know if this will help any, I had an 87 Taurus wagon that would cut out occassionally as I drove. It was real intermittent, sometimes the car wouldn't start, much like you are getting. Turned out that it was the fuel pump. I also had computer problems as well, but it was the fuel pump causing most of the problem.

You might replace the fuel filter. If it is clogged, the fuel pump will kick out if it is warm/hot.
