Plastic Surgery

Does anyone know what can be done about the black plastic bumper trim and side moldings on my 2000 Sport? I have kept it washed and polished so good that after almost six years on the road it still looks brand new except the black plastic is faded badly. I've used "Back to Black", Armour all, ect... and that makes it look better, but there are weird discolorations and light-greenish-gray spots especially on the front bumper guards. Is there a spray paint that is reasonbly good or do I just replace all the plastic which I know will be beyond my budget.

according to chrysler, the reason that happens is a build up of wax, dirt and what-not.They say to use something like dish soap and a brush to scrub it.I have never tried this myself so I don't know if it really works

You can get specially formulated paint for them. It's made for plastic parts. I got mine at Pep Boys and it worked great. Mine look new (unlike the rest of my Jeep). :(

We all know a Jeep is supposed to be faded and have a few obligatory specks of mud on the fenders and some dings and dents here and there.
A friend once told me his Dad's friend bought a new Willys wagon in the early sixties and the first thing he did when he brought it home was bang in the right front fender with a sledge hammer so he would use it as an off-road Jeep instead of worrying about it getting parking lot dings.
I'm still not there yet after almost six years of ownership. Thanks for the tip. Did you need to remove the plastic from the body?

Depends on your aim. :)
You can mask off the other parts if you don't want to remove the pieces. Or you may opt for the "camouflage" look.
