this is a 62' impala lowrider that myself and a friend from Califonia built together as a team.(I live in Indiana!) I'm a member of Wicked Fantasies MCC, and he's a member of Custom Builders MCC, so it was a nice collaboration of two clubs coming together opposite sides of the country.

We built this car as a sort of "charity" build, in which we will auction it off later this season to benefit our modeling forum http://www.mad-modeler.com. So whatever profit is made will be donated. (Auction date will be posted later)

So without further ado, here is the buildup of this car from start to show. enjoy!!!

The paintscheme is OG...light blue for the exterior, and the interior will be two-tone blue vinyl.

We are using a resin/billet distributor, and a battery kit from ModelCarGarage (if it'll fit!)

The front end is ready to go together...I have some braided lines for the brakes, as well as hardlines to go from the frame up.

the rear end is finished, got the coil over's mounted, the shocks mounted, brake line ran. and this will be the final stance of the car as well.

if your wondering why the cups are gold, my instant set for my glue took the chrome paint off..i'll have to touch it up again.

Sort of a large jump now...my partner in the build did the engine and body(he didn't take pics till he was at the show! lol)

This was at modelfest 05' out in california..we took first place lowrider cars (59 & NEWER). A few details were missing but they got added in later.

You must not be into lowriders very much if your don't like a lot of chrome, lmao.

and it's too many pics for one post...so i posted it up just like when we built it. in the proper order.

Ok I see. Please donīt get me wrong, the chrome looks fantastic, but I just felt that a chromed radiator was a bit too much for my taste...Well I guess we all have likes and dislikes.

Nicely done!

I don't understand the CSC bath to kill the gloss though...
Can you explain how you do that?

well..i had originally painted it a darker blue, and had to strip it off to repaint it. it was too dark and too glossy. So i dunked it in the csc for about 10-15 min. took it out and it was considerably duller. sort of took the sheen off. So after i resprayed them the color they are now, i dunked them again to take of some of the sheen and get a more natural looked. it worked quite well.

sweet man... is there a good how-to for making those cylinders on here or on mad modeler? I'm working on a '48 Chevy, and i think I'll have to build some... or does any aftermarket compant sell assembled ones?

there is a how-to on mad modeler for those...look in the tech section under the topic called "misc. how-to's" lot of diagrams of stuff like that.
