yo man, did u get that spec III installed yet? i ordered mine and all of the sudden im reading all this bad shit about them, about the springs flying out of them and poor made in china quality. Now im worried. I know they had a problem with them in the past, i hope i don't have to deal with bullshit with this clutch. Also, i found a shop that is close that does great work, they told me i need to get an adjustable master cylinder and new slave. Everything i read seems to say they are correct. Do u know where i can get a McLeod M.C.? im sure i can call them up and get it direct, but im also sure i'll pay too much that way. Im gonna call summit and see if i can special order it throught them.

Those rice forums are funny.
I got the Spec Stage 5. I have heard Spec having issues a couple years ago with their clutches, but from what I understand, their new ones are fine.
Be ready for an on/off clutch though. There is no slipping the clutch. You are either engaged or not.
If you are still worried, check out RAM clutches. They seem to be pretty decent clutches from what I have read. Mcleod, Centerforce....they are good as well.

Before I bought it, I drove a 700+ RWHP Camaro SS that has the Stage 5 in it. Felt very streetable.
Pedal felt stock to be honest.
I asked about it first as well. Couple local guys are running that clutch, and it seems they all say it is streetable. I figured I would try it. I plan on making 500 RWHP or so without a power adder, so I figured a strong clutch was a good idea.

Right now I am at a roadblock. I lost my job recently (April 1st, go figure) and am going to have to focus on making the bills, and not working about the car right now. Hopefully something will come up soon, and allow me to get the car done by later this summer.
Would be fun though. Problem is, I will be very traction impaired. Stock 10 bolt has to hold until this time next year. At the rate I am going, it should. :banghead:
If I find something soon, I will probably be running her at Cordova in September. Just north of the Quad Cities in Illinois.

I was born in Clinton, IA. Not 25 miles from Cordova. I still have a TON of family that lives out there, so I figure I can kill two birds with one stone.
Visit family, and run off this mountain.
And yes, you would eat me up, unless I got lucky and somehow hooked without blowing out the rear.
I was going to run it as it is right now last September. I was out there, and the stock tune got PISSED at me, and she started knocking. I made it to Cordova, but not with the WS.6.
My AIM name is 'MrLuos'. Pretty simple. lol

Trust me after a V6 beat the old school muscle I gained a lot of respect for buick. Unfortunately that race cost my dad thousands because of his new purchase of a 440 and much tuning to break the 400hp mark.

I didn't have any problems with my stage 3. Just make sure you have the 145 Slave(145 is the last 3 # on the slave cylinder # from GM). Also, get rid of the pilot bearing and get a pilot bushing....that way if the person(s) putting in your clutch slam the input shaft on the bushing, it will not get damaged like a bearing would. The bushing is like 2.00(if that) from Oreilly's Autoparts. Just an FYI

First rule of thumb when racing a GN with an older muscle car...
NEVER TRY TO RACE FROM A ROLL! A GN can be sitting at 30-40 MPH riding the brake and have 17 PSI sitting under it's ass readay to let loose the monster.
2nd rule of thumb.
Never think that because you got the launch on a GN that you will win. A GN top ends like a raped ape high on cocanne

The 145 Slave is the latest and greatest Slave from GM. The 288 slave was the 1st redesign from them. the 145 is the 2nd redesign.
I wouldn't waste your time on an adjustable master cylinder with a stage 3. I did and it made no difference. All you're doing with the adjustment is making the engagement area higher or lower in the pedal travel. If I would have known this before hand I would have kept the stock Master in there. Would it have lasted....I don'tknow, but the mcleod adj. master which I have has for almost 3 years...so :dunno:
Oh...Oreilly's is in the south-southwest part of the states. Just go to a local autoparts store and ask for a pilot bushing for a 350. same part.

You on race gas vs me on pump gas would be fun. Well, not from a stop(lack of seat time and slicks kill me). From a roll, it would be a lot of fun. :grinyes:
With just the 4# procharger/FMU and catback, I ran a 12.6@114 on street tires(2.0 60' time) with the 10 bolt.
I am now running 7#/bigger injectors/programming. Much faster now. I haven't been to the track in the past 2 years because of my work schedule doesn't allow me to take the car with me(sometimes I'm overseas). I did run an import owner that (this was verified by about everyone I know from DE/MD area) ran 11.75@118 on slicks. When we raced(each had street tires) I pulled 2.5~>3 cars on him from 40-100 roll.

When i questioned the guy if u can use a master or a slave from a ls1 the guy looked at me like i had two heads! Then i told him to look up slave cylinders ending in 145 for any make and he couldn't find anything!
So, some one please........are LT1 and LS1 master/slaves interchangable?
If so, then if i can't find a 145 slave, i'll just buy a z06 slave--which should actucally be a 145 since its late modle--correct??????
jesus, this is a pain in the freakin ass.
All i want is my goddamn car on the road--its spring time and there is rice everywhere!!!

Trying to find something for you. I am betting that the LT1 cylinders are different though.
I can't seem to find anything concerning upgrading the hydrolics for the LT1 cars. Are they even a hydrolic clutch?
I did find this, probably won't help though....LT1 clutch parts.

according to the repair manual i bought for it, it is hydraulic and the parts are two distinct pieces, but it doesn't list part numbers.

I am having some serious problems accessing most sites right now. Not sure why.
Once I get this computer working properly again, I will try to find something for you.

Ah crap...I saw your pic and though WS6 LS1..not LT1 as in your sig. LT1 and LS1 Slaves are different(LT1 external vs LS1 internal). I don't know, but the clutches might be different..you'd have to ask around. You could call Rob @ Extreme Performace and they'd know for sure...My bad man my bad...I screwed up ....you can contact them at 405 721 2430

no worries man, everyone thinks my car is an ls1, even up close. I have LT1 chrome badges on the fenders, but that hood screams "ls1"

For a slave/master cylinder, check out NAPA. they usually carry everything. My friend Dan, who has an LT1 6speed just said to try there. If they don't, just get the LT1 master/slave from GM.
Sorry about the confusion earlier.

That's cool. if you need a price, Dan said to call him. The # to call is 302 250 5661. Hope you find a new master and slave. I've known Dan for a few years, he's got the 94 Formula LT1 with 6 speed. He can help you out. Good luck with your search

Well thoes were MPH with the stock intercooler, now that I have my ICE water to air intercooler, I am expecting at least another 3-5 mph giain from that.

Don't worry....I've just ordered 60# injectors and twin Walbro 340 fuel pumps....why...because I'm slapping a T76 on the car and on the stock motor I'm not going to be happy with anything less then 600rwhp. Of course it will have a FMIC and alky/water injection. :lol2: 130mph traps..here I come

for anyone following this post here are the final answers....
1.no one makes after market lt1 clutch master/slave stuff.
2. An after market ls1 adjustable master could be custom mated to an LT1 setup but would only be worthwhile on a very serious setup.
3. LT1s use a master/slave "set", they come together as one peice from GM
4. Im replacing my stock "set" with another stock "set" even tho the car only has 40k on the dial. This is to avoid a problem with shitty seals since the car is 11 years old.
5. Rob from extreame performance is the man for helping me confirm my findings.
6. McLeods SUCKS MY BALLS. Thier main line is only to place orders, they don't know shit. Thier tech line never picks up the phone or its always busy, tried calling on 24 different days/times. Fuck them.
