i think 2.5in downpipe back would be fine for you. i personaly dont believe in spending 600 on an exhaust system, when a 300 muffler shop setup will do. call me cheap.

Cheap..... haha just playing, I agree with you. I was at an exhuast shop getting price quotes for an exhaust systems and the prices were crazy. Then the owner told me he could custom make me an exhaust system for almost less than half the price, I just need to purchase a muffler

I'm also looking at an exhaust myself. Go with a stainless steel 2.25" catback, with a test pipe if you can. The custom piping should be just fine, thats what I'm gonna get. Just pick a nice muffler, and you shouldnt spend more than $250-$300 after your all done.

I went to a local shop two days ago. I don't know if they are any reliable or not because when I asked him what kind of bending they do (mandrell or press)???, The guy looked at me like :eek7: ....and said " that they have only 1 machine that do all the work"...when I first got my GST I put a muffler in the same shop (I believe the muffler is the most restrictive part of the exhaust).........I am wondering if I really need another muffler....the one I have is HP something...it costed me around $70 at the time........... but he did said that his "exhaust guy" wasn't there at the moment.... I am looking forward to get a full turbo back exhaust....I don't think is going to be more than $350 with a nice "titaniun" muffler  .................. I do have a question....The full turbo back exhaust is clearly from the "turbo back"....this means that the o2 will be replace as well, right?......I apologize if these are silly/nonsense questions.........I been trying to read everything I could about DSMs for the last 3 or 4 months.....but its just hard to associate things..... :banghead:

Oh shit. I told you the wrong shit to get, sorry man. I read eclipse RS in your sig. and quite reading. YOU want to get probably a 3" exhaust, since your turbo. My bad...

Most turboback exhaust systems keep the o2 housing, and thus the front o2 sensor. Most downpipes are cat eliminators, which remove the capability to place in your second o2 sensor, which would give you a CEL anyway since you wouldn't be running a cat. Tin foil or a resister mod gets around that.
Some hardcore setups have an o2 housing eliminating downpipe. Sometimes these dp are so big that you have to relocate your oil filter.
Other dp's are "short" and leave room for a drop in cat or test pipe between the dp and catback.
