Smoked a supra

I pull up beside this guy in a supra yesterday. It looked to be a 93-95(not quite sure if those are the right model years). I throw him a rev and he acknowledges that it's on. Off the line im an easy 2 car lengths ahead and by the time im in third I can barely see the guy.

A newbie with no mod list, no car pictures or even a car listed and I'm seriously supposed to be fair and not say "bullsh*t".

yea i did but we did it from a rolling start so his sequential turbo stuff wasn't that much of a deal :finger:

Self, how much are these mods listed gonna improve the SS' performance? SS' are mid 13-second cars stock, I know, and I remember an article I read in a magazine a long time ago about a stock Supra running 13 flat. I'm not calling B.S. yet, since there's driver skill to account for, but the way he describes beating the Supra is a little much.

Yep why? It's not an overt ad, or nothing. If people wanna link, it's their choice. I got one of those damn pop-ups and I decided to register with them, and I put a link on my sig. I don't even check the durned thing.:p

peterparker, you sure it was a turbo?

Firstly, it's rare to see Supra's running flat 13s, just like it's rare to see an LS1 running high 12s. Reguardless, those heads, along with a suitable cam, would push him well into the 12s, I'm guessing, if properly tuned. By the same token, why didn't you go ahead and free up some additional ponies with a headers/exhaust combo? Go ahead and do that, the seat of the pants difference will bring a smile to your face:) Try for longtubes if you can afford it and emissions aren't a factor.

01 SS doesnt have the old 5.7 litre motor, but yet it's still a pushrod motor...

Even if you're running 12's this description just does not work. He also never mentioned if the Supra appeared modded in any way, since it's VERY easy to take a Supra into the 12's itself.

I say the Supra wasn't a turbo.

Yea it would be a cam, didn't even notice he had put the "s" in there. It's still a 5.7 liter though, just a new breed of 5.7. Quite a bit quicker than the LT1.

the Supra didn't looked modded at all but im pretty sure it was a turbo(could tell by the sound). He took it easy out of the launch and my tires spun for a split second than I got really good traction. I think he was a pretty bad driver because i've raced a couple of stock supra's before and they put up a little better fight.
