Okay, a little background on moderating. Whenever someone clicks the "report this post to a moderator" button, it sends an email off to every single mod on AF.

Now, to my rant.

WHAT THE FUCK IS IT WITH FUCKING N00BS WHO CLICK THAT BUTTON TO REPLY TO A THREAD????

Generally, I check the note and then do something about it, but this is just sucking my will to live. Get email, open it. Check the post reported. Reason for reporting post:

yeah i have a 93 galant 4 sale 4 cheap lemme kno if u interested

Disclaimer: Yes, I know I seem a little over the top. I meant it that way. I'm actually in a good mood, so I thought I'd try inject a little humour into something that was bugging me.

You know how hard I had to restrain myself from pressing the "Report post" button instead of replying to this?

But I figured I'd be nice. Yeah I'd imagine it's gotta be pretty annoying to run a forum properly with that happening. Most other forums i'm a member on have either removed, or just plain don't have that feature.

I actually agreee with him. There are a lot people who don't know what they are doing in forums, AND ITS ANNOYING. In addition to the report bad post thing, I abosolutly cannot stand it when some noob brings up a thread that a year old from a couple hundred pages in!!!

I agree too; but we were, ALL of us, N00bs at one point. A little patience is in order, but the same mistake made over and over again deserves notice.

I never had that problem.

Post = what we type and shows on the forum

Reply = posting a reply in the current thread

I get on average 4 maybe 5 a week, but it changes. Had a few this week, then other weeks get nothing. Usually half of those are the sort I'm ranting about.

I never even realised there was a button to report a post. Sure I noticed it but I didn't actually realise what it was for. It was more of a passing glance thing.

Another thing that is annoying, I know it was said already, but people who start a new thread about a post that's already started! People need to take the time and read through the forums BEFORE starting a new thread, it's redundancy and just plain annoying.

Dave's absolutely right though, those emails are fucking annoying when it's someone replying in a thread.

What's also annoying is that most members obviously don't know about the 'Report Post' button, so when they see spam they don't report it. Leaving us mods with bigger clean-up jobs :thumbsdow

Sounds about right. Usually the ones I check are fairly valid, but usually Im like the last mod to get it so the problem has been addressed by the time I get there.

I reported a post once, long before I was a mod, and it got someone banned :evillol:
