new head gaskit-engine lights on

i just got my head gaskit changed in my 98 stratus (2.4l) and now my engine lights on.The mechanic didnt change the water pump and i was wondering if that could be the reason the lights on? Also i think he changed the heater core? (This car is a money pit) HELP!
