the biggest thing is make sure that the tunnel between the seats is the same. They are on Blazers so they might be on the S-10 pickup. If it's lower you'll have to do body lift to make everything work out.
Try getting the most complete cab possible to make your job easier. Insist that the wires and dash are left alone, and take the new cabs steering columb with it just incase they are different.
The underhood wiring might be different from year to year too so look into this
You might have to cut a hole for the shifter(s) but again this hole appears to be in the blazer when I looked so you might be lucky.
I've had several cabs off before and it's not that hard just time consuming to get everything just right

The truck is the same year, i dont mind the work just the cab mounts on mine are rotted out so i figured it be alot easier to change the cab then welding new ones and tring to get everything to line back up properly. but thanks for the advice i will keep it in mind, if u have any other things to watch out for let me know. Thanks

note: ext cub is longer, measure all body mounts then re-measure and write them down, then measure the frame mounts and again measure them again. this will insure that the mounts are the same

you'll have to change serial numbers off the dashes. This is easier if the windshield happens to be out. Otherwise you'll have to partly pull the dash.
You might want to just peel the tag off the door jam. Or at least where the serial number is just incase the athorities look and question things.
Make this look as natural as possible
It isn't illegal to switch cabs but your only suposed to have serial numbers matching your insurance papers

^ personally i would just cover it, its not illegal (atleast in michigan its not) to cover your vin from the windsheild...

It's never been illegal to cover them, and they say that everyone should cover up your vin due to identity theft.
But when you go to sell your truck the insurance company might require seeing the number (they do for out of provence car registration in BC Canada)
Plus you are required to show it to the cops if they ask you.
And the last thing is if the cab happenes to be from a stolen truck you'd be in real trouble if you haven't switched the plate.
Autowrecks never look at the i.d. plate on cars that they haul off

is the serial attached to the dash? because if so couldn't u just change the dash?

yes it is, and yes you can.
It's kinda a pain changing your dash, and probably easier to pull the dash out just enough to drill out the serial number rivits.
Of course with the swap you probably want to use the best interior pieces from the 2 trucks, so this might not really matter anyways.
I actually use 2 camper jacks to lift my cabs up. The type that have a tripod on the base and a piece of angle iron to suport the camper.
4 people with strong backs works better

If we're talking about the VIN, it's riveted to the metal shell under the vinyl dash cover.

I'm confused !!!!
Your cab mounts are rusted out so you want to change the cab because it would be easier?
Trust me ... the amount of work involved to change the cab will be more than welding in new cab mounts. I have replaced all my cab mounts on my 84 ext. cab with new pre-made ones and also I custom fabricated my own. Yes there is work involved, but replacing the mounts vs. the whole cab, is ALOT easier. You will only be replacing one at a time, so it will be no problem to line everything back up properly.
I would try and replace one cab mount first (try the worst one !!) before replacing the cab. If you can fix the first and worst one, then the rest should be a breeze.

See the Cab i can get is in excellent shape, mine threre is absoutly no cab mounts left at all, and along with rotten floor where the cab mounts is suppose to be and if i needed to do the cab mounts i need someone to do them to me because i'm not able to do them myself.
Regarding the Vin Number its not attached to the dash its attached to a plate under the dash? And it is possible to change the vin number without removing the window? and one more thing there is only 1 vin number on the cab?
