Whoever told you that is retarded. It's not hard you have to remove the rear deck and they come out from the top. It's not hard. The side pieces have to come off before the back deck. After you get the deck off you'll see that there are mounting brackets that the factory 6x9s fit into. Take the factorys out and put in the new ones. Snap the bracket back into place and put everything back in and your done.

I replaced the speakers in my 99 about a month ago. I'm not sure what the difference is between the 99 and 01, but I didn't have to take the rear deck out. The mounting bracket was held into the cutouts with two tabs that face the front. After disconnecting the wires, push the tabs and lift up on the front of the speakers. The whole bracket and speaker assembly will come out. Just unscrew the old speakers from the bracket and screw in the new ones and put the whole thing back into place. The only problem I had was that the new speakers were slightly larger the the originals and I had to slightly modify the bracket to allow the new speakers to fit. The back part of the bracket has to go in first as part of it has to go into holes next to the speaker cut out. Now that they're in, they look and sound great! Good luck!!

its so easy to replace your front and rear speakers here it is.
on the front you have to find the 2 fillips screws under your door handle behind a plastic cover. remove the cover pull the screws then pop the door panel off. make sure you disconect everything from the panels.for the reat fold your back seats down. remove the plastic trim .
push up on the back dash cover pull it out and wala! your 6x9 and door speakers are removed.

easy? yeah right. took me 2 freakin hours just to get the rear 6x9's installed. you literally have to pry and yank that plastic cover on the rear dash up.. i thought i was breaking something. those plastic tabs were a bitch to figure out, and wear the speaker wire connected.. don't even get me started. what a pain in the arse that was.
